June 10 — When the Weight Feels Too Heavy
Scripture:
"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."
— Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
Today would have been my son's 29th birthday. He was taken from this world in 2019 through a senseless act of violence. There are no words to describe the ache a mother feels when her child is no longer here. Birthdays become reminders not only of what was but what will never be.
And yet, in the unbearable moments—when grief crashes like waves and I can barely breathe—God is still there.
Grief doesn't come with instructions. It’s messy. It's painful. It takes time. But I am here as living proof that with God’s mercy and grace, you can survive it. Not just survive—but find moments of peace, healing, and even joy again. I didn’t do it alone. I couldn’t. But I called out to God, and He answered. He held me when no one else could. He whispered comfort when the world went silent.
If you are grieving today, know this: God sees you. He hears your cries. He collects every tear. And He is more than able to carry you through what you cannot carry alone. You don’t have to have the perfect words or perfect faith—just open your heart. Ask Him to help you cope. He will. He’s just that kind of God.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today hurts. The pain of loss feels unbearable, and yet I know You are near. I thank You for being my refuge when the world falls apart. Comfort every broken heart reading this today. Be their strength when they have none. Wrap them in Your peace, and remind them they are not alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection:
Is there a moment in your grief journey where you can look back and see God’s hand—even in the smallest way? Write it down. Let it be your stone of remembrance that He is faithful, even in the valley.
