šŸ“± Daily Devotional – October 22, 2025 šŸ“±Theme: Be Present—Life Is But a Vapor

Be Present—Life Is But a Vapor

Scripture (KJV):ā€œWhereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.ā€ – James 4:14

Reflection: We live in a world that moves fast—too fast sometimes. Our phones, our screens, and our endless notifications can steal more from us than we realize. What once connected us has now, too often, replaced genuine connection.

There was a time when families gathered around the dinner table, when friends sat together and talked without glancing down at their phones every few minutes. I miss those times—don’t you? There’s something sacred about being fully present with the people God has placed in our lives.

Our Sunday school teacher once shared a simple but powerful challenge: look at how much time you spend on your apps each day. If your time on social media outweighs your time with your family, friends, or time spent in prayer and Scripture, it’s time to pause and pray. That one thought really stuck with me.

Now don’t get me wrong—technology itself isn’t bad. In fact, it can be a blessing! I use mine to share devotionals and the gospel with people I might never meet in person. Writing allows me to express my heart for Jesus in ways that speaking sometimes can’t. But like anything else, it needs balance.

Life is short—like a vapor, the Bible says. Every moment matters. Don’t miss the laughter at your kitchen table or the sound of your loved one’s voice because you’re scrolling through someone else’s highlight reel. The likes, the posts, the comments will fade—but the memories made with those you love will last a lifetime.

Devotional Thought: Put down the phone. Look up. Be present. Cherish today—because tomorrow isn’t promised, but this moment is a gift.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of time and the people You’ve placed in my life. Help me to slow down and be fully present with those I love. Teach me to use technology wisely—to share Your Word and not waste the time You’ve given me. Remind me that life is but a vapor and that every moment counts for eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
