☕ Daily Thought: Stay in the Light

Good morning, family and friends. ❤️

I was sitting here thinking about safety this morning.

I went outside to let my chickens out, but it was still dark. I decided to wait until daylight because I want them to be safe. There are critters that move around in the darkness, and if I open that door too soon, something could sneak in and hurt them.

And standing there, God placed a thought on my heart:

How often do we open doors in our own lives while it's still dark?

That chicken coop is a place of safety. Opening the door at the wrong time could allow something dangerous inside.

Spiritually, we need to be careful about the doors we open too.

Our only true hope in this world is the Light of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said:

"I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." — John 8:12 KJV

We need to stay close to God's light and ask Him for discernment about what we allow into our hearts, homes, minds, and families.

What are we watching?

What are we listening to?

What influences are we allowing into our homes?

What doors are we opening simply because the world tells us something is harmless?

This doesn't mean that we don't love people who are struggling with sin. We absolutely should. Jesus calls us to love people, pray for them, show compassion, and share His truth.

But loving someone does not mean we have to invite darkness into our own lives.

We can love people while still standing firmly upon God's Word.

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." — Ephesians 5:11 KJV

Just as I waited for the light before opening that chicken-coop door, there are times when we need to say:

"Lord, I'm not opening this door until You give me wisdom."

And I know some of y'all probably wonder, "How does she come up with this stuff while feeding chickens?" 😂❤️

That's one of the beautiful things about walking with God.

He can use an ordinary morning, a cup of coffee, a chicken coop, or something we see every single day to remind us of a spiritual truth.

The Bible tells us:

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." — James 1:5 KJV

God gives us wisdom. He shows us His light. We just have to ask, listen, and be willing to follow.

So my prayer today is:

Lord, keep me walking in Your light. Give me wisdom to recognize the doors that should remain closed. Help me love others with the love of Christ without compromising Your truth. Protect my heart, my home, and my family from the darkness of this world, and let Your light shine through my life so others can find their way to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Sometimes wisdom is simply knowing when not to open the door.
