☕ Food for Thought: TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE ❤️
Good morning, family and friends!
As I sit here this beautiful morning drinking my coffee and studying God's Word, something really spoke to my heart.
JUST BECAUSE A THOUGHT ENTERS MY MIND DOESN'T MEAN I HAVE TO BELIEVE IT!
How many times have we allowed our thoughts to steal our peace?
What if something happens?
What if I fail?
What if things never get better?
What are people saying about me?
Why did God allow this to happen?
Y'all, I've been there!
I've had moments when fear tried to take over, when grief felt overwhelming, when circumstances didn't make sense, and when I allowed things I couldn't control to occupy far too much of my mind.
But God keeps reminding me:
SARAH, BRING THOSE THOUGHTS BACK TO ME.
The Bible says:
"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" — 2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV
That Scripture really makes me stop and think.
I may not be able to control every situation in my life.
I cannot control what other people say or do.
I cannot change yesterday.
And I certainly don't know what tomorrow holds.
But with God's help, I can choose what I allow to take root in my heart and mind.
When fear tells me I can't make it, God's Word reminds me:
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." — Philippians 4:13 KJV
When worry tells me everything is falling apart, I can remind myself that God is still in control.
When someone hurts me, I can choose prayer instead of allowing bitterness to grow.
When the enemy reminds me of my past, I can remember the grace and forgiveness I've found in Jesus.
And when I don't understand what God is doing, I can still trust Him.
MY THOUGHTS DON'T HAVE TO BECOME MY ACTIONS.
I don't have to respond to every hurtful word.
I don't have to entertain every fearful thought.
I don't have to allow yesterday's pain to steal today's blessings.
And I don't have to figure everything out before I trust God.
The Bible says:
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." — Romans 12:2 KJV
I'm learning that sometimes the biggest battle isn't what's happening around me.
IT'S WHAT I'M ALLOWING TO HAPPEN WITHIN ME.
And y'all, I'm preaching to myself this morning!
There have been times I've had to stop and say:
Sarah, quit replaying that situation. Quit trying to figure out what everybody else is thinking. Quit worrying about something you cannot change. Give it to God and LEAVE IT THERE!
I'm still learning.
I'm still growing.
And I'm so thankful that God is patient with me.
I may not understand every battle I've faced, but I can look back over my life and see how faithful He has been.
My tests have become testimonies, and I know He's not finished with me yet. ❤️
🙏 My Prayer Today
Lord, help me take every thought captive. When fear, worry, anger, grief, or discouragement begin to fill my mind, remind me to bring those thoughts to You. Help me stop carrying things that belong in Your hands. Renew my mind through Your Word, guard my heart, and give me wisdom to know when to speak, when to be still, and when to simply trust You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
❤️ You don't have to believe every thought that comes into your mind, and you certainly don't have to let every thought control your day.
TAKE IT CAPTIVE. TAKE IT TO JESUS. AND LET HIS TRUTH HAVE THE FINAL WORD.
