☕ Friday Food for Thought: ARE WE BRINGING GLORY TO GOD OR OURSELVES? ❤️
Good Friday morning, family and friends!
As I sit here this morning with my coffee and God's Word, I've been thinking about something that I believe we all need to examine in our own lives.
ARE WE TRULY LIVING TO BRING GLORY TO GOD?
Y'all, it's easy to say we love Jesus, but are we showing that love in how we treat others?
Are we encouraging one another?
Are we working together to share the Gospel?
Or are we allowing pride, jealousy, disagreements, and hurt feelings to get in the way?
And believe me, I'm preaching to Sarah this morning too! ❤️
As I was reading about the church at Philippi, something really spoke to my heart.
The Philippian believers loved the Lord and supported Paul during his imprisonment. They showed their faith through generosity, encouragement, and love.
But Paul also reminded them of something important.
THE CHURCH MUST REMAIN UNITED IN CHRIST!
The Bible says:
“Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” — Philippians 2:2 KJV
Y'all, think about that for a moment.
We can have beautiful church buildings, wonderful programs, talented singers, and people who know the Bible from cover to cover.
But if we're constantly arguing, competing, gossiping, and tearing one another down, what kind of testimony are we showing the world?
WE CANNOT EXPECT TO LEAD PEOPLE TO JESUS WHILE WE'RE BUSY TEARING DOWN ONE ANOTHER!
Now, that doesn't mean we have to agree on every little thing.
And it certainly doesn't mean we should compromise God's Word just to keep everybody happy.
But we CAN disagree without being hateful.
We CAN stand for truth while showing love.
And we CAN remember that the church belongs to JESUS CHRIST, not any one person!
Paul also wrote:
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” — Philippians 2:3 KJV
That Scripture really makes me stop and think!
Are we serving God because we love Him?
Or because we want recognition?
Are we helping others because we care?
Or because we want someone to notice what we've done?
Y'all, I've learned that WE DON'T NEED THE APPLAUSE OF THIS WORLD WHEN OUR HEARTS ARE TRULY SET ON PLEASING GOD!
And here's something else.
Living for Jesus doesn't mean everybody will like us.
Sometimes standing on God's Word will bring criticism, opposition, and difficult circumstances.
Paul certainly knew what that was like!
But even while imprisoned, he continued encouraging others to remain faithful.
The Bible says:
“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ...” — Philippians 1:27 KJV
That word conversation refers to how we conduct our lives.
In other words:
LET THE WAY YOU LIVE REFLECT THE JESUS YOU SAY YOU SERVE!
Y'all, that's what I want for my life.
I don't want to be remembered for how much I accomplished, how many titles I held, or how many people knew my name.
I want people to remember that I loved Jesus, stood on His Word, and tried to show His love to others.
And when I fall short, I want to be humble enough to admit it, repent, and do better.
Because none of us have arrived!
WE'RE ALL STILL LEARNING, GROWING, AND NEEDING GOD'S GRACE EVERY SINGLE DAY!
🙏 Heavenly Father, thank You for another day to serve You. Forgive me for the times I've allowed pride, hurt feelings, or selfishness to interfere with my Christian walk. Help me be a peacemaker without compromising Your truth. Teach me to encourage others instead of tearing them down. Give me humility in my accomplishments, strength during opposition, and a heart that desires Your glory above my own. Let my life point people toward Jesus. In His precious name, Amen. ❤️
🌿 Food for Thought:
IF WHAT WE'RE DOING ISN'T POINTING PEOPLE TOWARD JESUS, WE NEED TO EXAMINE WHY WE'RE DOING IT!
LESS PRIDE. MORE HUMILITY.
LESS DIVISION. MORE UNITY.
LESS SEEKING RECOGNITION. MORE GIVING GOD THE GLORY!
And remember, y'all...
THE CHURCH ISN'T ABOUT MAKING OUR NAMES GREAT. IT'S ABOUT LIFTING UP THE NAME OF JESUS! ❤️
Have a beautiful and blessed Friday!
