☕ Friday Food for Thought: JUST BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU NEED TO SHARE IT! ❤️
Good morning, family and friends!
As I sit here this morning with my coffee and God's Word, I'm continuing to pray about something the Lord has really been dealing with my heart about lately.
GOSSIP.
Y'all, I'm learning that gossip isn't always a lie. Sometimes it is the TRUTH being shared with people who have no business knowing it!
And I'm preaching to Sarah this morning too! ❤️
There are three things I want us to think about today.
1. SPREADING SOMETHING THAT ISN'T TRUE.
Have you ever heard something about someone and repeated it, only to find out later it wasn't true?
Words can damage someone's reputation, relationships, and even their life.
“A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.” — Proverbs 19:5 KJV
2. SHARING SOMETHING THAT IS TRUE BUT ISN'T OURS TO TELL.
This one really speaks to my heart!
Just because someone made a mistake doesn't mean we need to tell everybody about it.
Just because someone confided in us doesn't mean their story belongs to us.
“A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.” — Proverbs 11:13 KJV
Now, that doesn't mean we should cover up abuse or wrongdoing that needs to be reported. But there is a big difference between helping someone and spreading their business!
3. SPECULATING ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN TO SOMEONE.
Have you ever heard people say:
“I bet they're going to lose their job.”
“That marriage will never last.”
“They're going to lose everything.”
Y'all, we don't know what tomorrow holds for OURSELVES, much less someone else!
WHY ARE WE SPEAKING NEGATIVITY OVER SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE?
Instead of predicting their downfall, why not pray for their victory?
Instead of repeating their mistakes, why not encourage their restoration?
Instead of talking ABOUT them, why not talk to GOD about them?
The Bible says:
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying...” — Ephesians 4:29 KJV
I am asking God to help me become more careful with my words, my conversations, and even what I share on Facebook.
I don't need to know everything.
I don't need to repeat everything.
And I certainly don't need to have an opinion about everybody else's situation.
SOMETIMES WE NEED TO CLOSE OUR MOUTHS AND OPEN OUR BIBLES! ❤️
🙏 Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I have repeated something I shouldn't have, listened to something I didn't need to hear, or made assumptions about someone else's life. Give me wisdom to recognize gossip, courage to walk away from it, and love to pray for people instead of talking about them. Let my words bring encouragement, healing, and glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
🌿 Food for Thought:
If it isn't TRUE, don't repeat it.
If it isn't YOUR STORY, be careful sharing it.
If it hasn't HAPPENED, don't speculate about it.
And even when something IS true, ask yourself:
“LORD, IS THIS MINE TO TELL?”
❤️ LET'S BE KNOWN FOR SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS, NOT THE BAD NEWS ABOUT EVERYBODY ELSE!
