💜 THRIFTED GEMS & CREATIVE DREAMS 💜

Finding Possibilities in Everyday Treasures!

🍂🌻 WEEKEND CRAFTS | OCTOBER 9–11, 2026 🌻🍂

HAPPY FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, CRAFTING FRIENDS!

Good morning, everyone! 💜

It's Friday, and I hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend filled with blessings, laughter, a little treasure hunting, and LOTS of creativity!

This weekend, we're doing THREE completely different projects!

We're taking things that others might overlook and turning them into beautiful, useful treasures for our homes.

And remember, we don't have to spend a fortune to make something beautiful!

Let's get creative! 🎨

🌻 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9

🪜 Old Wooden Step Stool → Charming Cottage Plant Stand!

Have you ever seen an old wooden step stool at a thrift store or yard sale?

Maybe it's scratched, faded, or has paint splattered all over it.

Well, DON'T PASS IT BY! 😍

Today we're transforming an old wooden step stool into a beautiful decorative plant stand!

🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Old wooden step stool

  • Chalk paint or furniture paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Cleaning cloth

  • Sandpaper (for known-safe finishes)

  • Small potted plants

  • Decorative stencil (optional)

  • Clear protective finish (optional)

🔨 STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS

STEP 1 — FIND YOUR STOOL

Look for a sturdy wooden stool at a thrift store, yard sale, estate sale, or flea market.

Check for cracks, loose joints, and damage.

STEP 2 — CLEAN IT UP

Remove dirt and dust. Tighten loose hardware and repair any damage before decorating.

STEP 3 — CHOOSE YOUR COLOR

Try antique white, sage green, muted lavender, or natural wood.

Paint the stool and allow it to dry completely.

STEP 4 — ADD A LITTLE PERSONALITY

Stencil a sweet message such as:

🌿 Bloom Where You Are Planted

🌻 Grow in Grace

🏡 Bless This Home

Or leave it plain for a simple cottage look!

STEP 5 — ADD YOUR PLANTS

Place lightweight potted plants on the steps.

Try ivy, succulents, or small herbs.

Use saucers to protect the wood from water.

STEP 6 — DISPLAY & ENJOY

Place your new stand beside a sunny window, in your sunroom, or on a covered porch.

Make sure it's stable, keep the weight within its capacity, and use it for plants only—not as a step stool unless it's still rated and safe for climbing.

💰 FRIDAY'S CHALLENGE

Can you transform a thrifted stool for $10 or less using paint you already have?

💜 FRIDAY'S INSPIRATION

Sometimes the things we overlook have the greatest potential.

Just like an old stool can be given a new purpose, God can use us in ways we never imagined.

📖 Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"

🧵 SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

👖 Old Blue Jeans → Beautiful Farmhouse Pocket Organizer!

Saturday's craft is going to be FUN!

We're digging through our closets for an old pair of blue jeans!

Instead of throwing them away, we're turning those denim pockets into a beautiful hanging organizer.

Perfect for a craft room, sewing room, office, or even a child's bedroom!

🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Old blue jeans

  • Scissors

  • Needle and thread or sewing machine

  • Sturdy fabric backing

  • Wooden dowel

  • Jute twine

  • Lace, ribbon, or decorative trim

  • Fabric glue (optional)

  • Small wooden embellishments (optional)

🔨 STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS

STEP 1 — FIND YOUR DENIM

Choose an old pair of jeans you no longer wear.

Thrift stores are also great places to find inexpensive denim!

STEP 2 — CUT OUT THE POCKETS

Carefully cut around the back pockets, leaving enough fabric around the edges to sew them onto your backing.

Save the leftover denim for another project!

STEP 3 — CREATE YOUR BACKING

Cut a rectangle from sturdy fabric.

Canvas, denim, or a heavyweight cotton fabric works beautifully.

Hem or fold the edges neatly.

STEP 4 — ATTACH YOUR POCKETS

Arrange the pockets in rows.

Sew each pocket securely onto the backing, leaving the top open.

You can use different-sized pockets for a more interesting design!

STEP 5 — ADD COTTAGE CHARM

Decorate with:

🤍 Vintage lace

💜 Lavender ribbon

🤎 Burlap trim

🎀 Gingham bows

🪵 Wooden buttons

Make it as simple or decorative as you like!

STEP 6 — CREATE YOUR HANGER

Fold the top of your fabric around a wooden dowel and stitch it securely.

Tie jute twine to both ends of the dowel.

Hang your organizer on a suitable wall hook.

Now fill those pockets with craft supplies, pens, scissors, paintbrushes, or other lightweight treasures!

💰 SATURDAY'S CHALLENGE

Can you create today's organizer without buying ANYTHING?

Use old jeans, leftover fabric, ribbon scraps, and a dowel you already own.

💜 SATURDAY'S INSPIRATION

I love this project because it reminds us that something doesn't have to be brand-new to be valuable.

Sometimes a little imagination is all it takes to discover a new purpose.

📖 Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"

🙏 SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11

📚 Thrifted Books → Beautiful Vintage Book Stack & Scripture Display!

Sunday's craft is simple, meaningful, and perfect for a cozy cottage home.

We're taking old books and transforming them into a beautiful decorative display with a special message.

And don't worry—we're not cutting up any valuable antique books!

Look for inexpensive, damaged, or unwanted books that can be repurposed.

🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Three old books of different sizes

  • Burlap, lace, or gingham ribbon

  • Jute twine

  • Small wooden tag

  • Paint pen or stencil

  • Faux greenery

  • Small wooden cross (optional)

  • Decorative tray (optional)

🔨 STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS

STEP 1 — FIND YOUR BOOKS

Look for three books at thrift stores, yard sales, or library sales.

Choose books with attractive covers or interesting textures.

STEP 2 — CHOOSE YOUR STYLE

Leave the covers original for a vintage appearance.

Or wrap the books in removable kraft paper or neutral fabric.

This is a great way to change their appearance without damaging them.

STEP 3 — STACK YOUR BOOKS

Place the largest book on the bottom.

Add the medium book.

Finish with the smallest book on top.

STEP 4 — TIE THEM TOGETHER

Wrap the stack with jute twine, lace, or ribbon.

Tie a pretty bow on top.

STEP 5 — ADD A SCRIPTURE TAG

Create a small wooden tag that says:

💜 Faith • Hope • Love

Or:

🙏 Be Still & Know

Or:

❤️ Blessed Beyond Measure

Attach the tag to your ribbon.

STEP 6 — CREATE YOUR DISPLAY

Place your book stack on a thrifted tray or small table.

Add a little greenery, a wooden cross, or a battery-operated candle nearby.

You now have a beautiful, inexpensive Scripture-inspired decoration!

💰 SUNDAY'S $5 CHALLENGE

Can you create this project for $5 or less?

Check your bookshelves first!

You may already have everything you need.

💜 SUNDAY'S INSPIRATION

Today's craft reminds me that our lives are made up of many chapters.

Some are filled with joy.

Others are filled with challenges, changes, and lessons we never expected.

But through every chapter, God remains faithful.

And as long as He gives us another day, there is still more of our story to be written.

📖 Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

💰 WEEKEND TREASURE HUNT CHALLENGE!

This weekend, I want to challenge everyone to find ONE ITEM FOR $5 OR LESS that can become something beautiful or useful!

It could be something from:

🛍️ A thrift store

🏷️ A yard sale

🏡 An estate sale

💵 Dollar Tree or Dollar General

🎨 Hobby Lobby or Michaels

📦 Your own garage, closet, or attic!

Remember, the goal isn't to spend money.

It's to discover possibilities!

📸 WEEKEND SHOW & TELL!

Now here's where I need YOUR help making this group fun!

I want to see what everyone has been finding and creating!

Have you discovered a hidden gem this week?

Finished a craft?

Repurposed an old piece of furniture?

Found an incredible bargain?

Or do you have something sitting around that you just don't know what to do with?

POST THOSE PICTURES! 📸

And don't be shy about asking:

“WHAT WOULD YOU CREATE WITH THIS?”

We have so many creative minds in this group, and your idea might inspire someone else!

🌻 QUESTION OF THE WEEKEND!

Which of our three projects would YOU love to try?

🪜 FRIDAY: Vintage Step Stool Plant Stand
