Finding Possibilities in Everyday Treasures!

🍂 MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2026 🍂

🎨 CRAFT OF THE DAY

🪵 Old Wooden Cutting Board → Beautiful Farmhouse Kitchen Recipe Holder!

Happy Monday, crafting friends! 💜🌻

Who's ready to start another week of treasure hunting and creating beautiful things without spending a fortune?

Today we're heading into the KITCHEN!

Have you ever seen those old wooden cutting boards at thrift stores, estate sales, or yard sales?

Maybe they're scratched, stained, or just a little outdated.

Well, DON'T PASS THEM BY! 😍

We're turning an ordinary wooden cutting board into a beautiful farmhouse recipe holder that can display your favorite family recipes, Scripture cards, grocery lists, or even a treasured handwritten recipe from someone you love.

And the best part?

You can make it for just a few dollars!

🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED

🪵 Old wooden cutting board🎨 Chalk paint or acrylic paint🖌️ Paintbrush📎 Large metal bulldog clip🔩 Small screws or strong craft adhesive🎀 Burlap, gingham, or lace ribbon🌿 Small faux greenery🧶 Jute twine🪵 Small wooden block or stand📜 Favorite recipe card✂️ Scissors🔥 Hot glue gun for decorations

BUDGET TIP: Look for cutting boards at thrift stores, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, estate sales, or yard sales. You may already have one tucked away in a cabinet!

🔨 STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS

1️⃣ FIND YOUR HIDDEN GEM!

Look for an old wooden cutting board with an interesting shape.

Round, rectangular, paddle-style, or even one with a handle will work!

Clean it thoroughly and allow it to dry.

We're making a decorative holder, so choose a board that will no longer be used for food preparation.

2️⃣ GIVE IT A FARMHOUSE MAKEOVER!

Now choose your favorite style.

🤍 Antique White🌿 Sage Green🩵 Dusty Blue💜 Soft Lavender🤎 Natural Wood🖤 Farmhouse Black

For today's project, I love antique white with a little natural wood showing around the edges.

If the board has an unknown old painted finish, avoid sanding it until you know it's safe.

3️⃣ ADD YOUR RECIPE CLIP!

Attach a large metal bulldog clip near the upper center of the board.

You can use appropriately sized screws or a strong adhesive suitable for wood and metal.

Allow adhesive to cure according to its instructions.

This clip will hold your favorite recipes!

4️⃣ CREATE YOUR LITTLE STAND!

If your cutting board doesn't stand on its own, attach a small wooden support to the back or use a sturdy plate easel.

Make sure it sits securely on the counter.

You can also hang it on the wall using appropriate hardware.

5️⃣ ADD YOUR PERSONAL TOUCH!

Now let's get creative!

Tie a little gingham bow around the handle.

Add a small sprig of greenery.

Stencil a sweet saying such as:

❤️ Made With Love

🍎 Grandma's Kitchen

🏡 Gather Around the Table

🙏 Bless This Kitchen

🥧 Family Recipes & Sweet Memories

You can even add your family name!

6️⃣ DISPLAY YOUR FAVORITE RECIPE!

Clip a recipe card onto the board.

Place it on your kitchen counter, coffee bar, or cookbook shelf.

And there you have it!

An old cutting board has become a beautiful, useful piece of farmhouse kitchen décor! 💜

💡 BONUS IDEA — MAKE IT A FAMILY HEIRLOOM!

Here's what makes today's project extra special.

Do you have an old handwritten recipe from your mother, grandmother, aunt, or someone special?

Maybe it's a pie recipe.

A favorite Sunday dinner.

Homemade biscuits.

A cake everyone loved.

Instead of leaving that recipe tucked away in a drawer, make a copy and display it on your new recipe holder!

You could even laminate the copy to protect it from kitchen splashes.

What a beautiful way to preserve family memories.

Sometimes the most precious treasures aren't things we purchase. They're the memories attached to them. ❤️

💰 MONDAY'S $5 CHALLENGE!

Can you make today's recipe holder for $5 OR LESS?

Try finding:

🪵 Cutting board — $1–$2📎 Metal clip — $1🎀 Ribbon — leftover from another project🎨 Paint — already in your craft stash🌿 Greenery — leftover scraps

And remember, you don't have to buy everything new.

SHOP YOUR HOME FIRST!

That's where some of our greatest hidden treasures are waiting!

💜 TODAY'S INSPIRATION — THE BEAUTY OF FAMILY MEMORIES

You know, I think one of the most beautiful things about repurposing is how something simple can become meaningful.

An old cutting board might not look like much sitting on a thrift-store shelf.

But imagine turning it into a display for your grandmother's handwritten biscuit recipe.

Suddenly, that inexpensive board holds something priceless.

A memory.

A tradition.

A little piece of someone you love.

Sometimes we get so busy looking for the newest and prettiest things that we forget the beauty of what has been passed down to us.

Our homes don't have to be filled with expensive decorations to be beautiful.

Sometimes the things that mean the most are the ones that tell our stories.

And what a blessing it is to share those stories with the next generation!

📖 TODAY'S SCRIPTURE (KJV)

"We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done."

Psalm 78:4

What a beautiful reminder that the stories, lessons, and blessings we pass along can mean so much to those who come after us.

🌻 QUESTION OF THE DAY!

You find an old wooden cutting board at a thrift store for $2.

WHAT WOULD YOU TURN IT INTO?

💜 “WHAT WOULD YOU CREATE WITH THIS?”

Have a beautiful and blessed Monday, everyone! 🌻🍂
