🍂💜 THRIFTED GEMS & CREATIVE DREAMS 💜🍂Finding Possibilities in Everyday Treasures!

Happy weekend, crafting friends!

We've been creating lots of beautiful fall decorations lately, so this weekend I thought...

LET'S CHANGE IT UP! 😍

We're still going thrifting and creating on a budget, but we're making two completely different projects!

🧥 SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3

👔 Thrifted Flannel Shirt → Cozy Reusable Hand Warmers

Yes... we're crafting with an OLD SHIRT today! 😍

Check your closet or find an inexpensive flannel shirt at a thrift store and turn it into adorable little reusable hand warmers.

Perfect for chilly fall mornings!

🛒 YOU'LL NEED:

👔 Old flannel or sturdy cotton shirt✂️ Fabric scissors📏 Ruler🧵 Needle and thread OR sewing machine🌾 Uncooked rice🌿 Optional dried lavender🧷 Pins or clips🪡 Funnel — optional

🔨 STEP-BY-STEP

1️⃣ CUT YOUR FABRIC

Wash and dry your shirt first.

Cut two matching pieces approximately 4 x 4 inches for each warmer.

Make squares, rectangles, or even simple hearts if you're comfortable sewing curves.

2️⃣ SEW IT

Place the patterned sides together.

Sew around the edges, leaving a small opening.

Turn your little pouch right-side out.

3️⃣ ADD THE FILLING

Mix uncooked rice with a tiny amount of dried lavender if you'd like a gentle scent.

Using a funnel, fill the pouch about 2/3 full so the rice can move around.

Don't overfill!

4️⃣ CLOSE IT UP

Fold the unfinished edges inward and stitch the opening securely closed.

And that's it!

You just turned part of an unwanted shirt into something useful. 🙌

🔥 TO USE:

Heat briefly in the microwave in short increments, checking the temperature each time. Because fabrics, fillings, and microwave wattages vary, don't leave it unattended or overheat it.

Slip one into each coat pocket before heading outside.

Never use fabric containing metallic fibers, decorations, buttons, snaps, or zippers in a microwave.

💡 GREAT GIFT IDEA!

Make several pairs and tie them together with jute.

Add a handmade tag:

“Warm Hands • Warm Heart” ❤️

What an inexpensive little Christmas gift!

♻️ DON'T THROW AWAY THE REST OF THE SHIRT!

Use leftover fabric for:

🎀 Fabric bows📚 Bookmarks🫙 Jar toppers🧵 Patchwork projects🎁 Gift wrapping accents

Let's see how much we can create from ONE thrifted shirt!

📖 SATURDAY'S SCRIPTURE

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"

Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

📚 SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4

🖼️ Old Picture Frame + Fabric → Cozy Cottage Memory & Message Board

Sunday's craft is another project that's completely different from our usual décor!

We're turning an unwanted picture frame and leftover fabric into a beautiful message board.

Use it for family photographs, prayer requests, Scripture cards, recipes, notes, grandchildren's artwork, reminders, or little memories you don't want to lose. 💜

🛒 YOU'LL NEED:

🖼️ Thrifted picture frame👔 Scrap fabric, old curtain, tablecloth, or pillowcase📦 Sturdy cardboard, cork, or foam board🎀 Ribbon✂️ Scissors📏 Measuring tape🔥 Hot glue or fabric adhesive📌 Small clothespins or suitable pushpins🧶 Jute twine — optional

🔨 STEP-BY-STEP

1️⃣ FIND YOUR FRAME

Look for a larger frame at a thrift store, yard sale, or estate sale.

Don't worry about the artwork inside.

We're after the FRAME!

Remove the glass and save it safely for another project if possible.

2️⃣ FIND SOME FABRIC

Here's where we're going to get creative!

Instead of buying new fabric, look for:

👔 Old shirts

🪟 Curtain remnants

🛏️ Pillowcases

🍽️ Tablecloths

🧺 Fabric scraps

A beautiful vintage floral, plaid, ticking stripe, or neutral fabric would be gorgeous.

3️⃣ CREATE YOUR BACKING

Cut sturdy cardboard, cork, or foam board to fit inside your frame.

Wrap it tightly with your fabric.

Secure the fabric on the BACK.

4️⃣ ADD RIBBON

Stretch ribbon diagonally or horizontally across the board.

Secure the ends firmly behind the backing.

These ribbons become little holders for photographs and notes.

5️⃣ PUT IT TOGETHER

Place your covered board inside the frame and secure the backing.

Add little clothespins if desired.

Now comes the best part...

DECIDE WHAT YOUR BOARD WILL BECOME!

📖 Scripture Board

💌 Gratitude Board

📝 Family Message Center

💜 MY FAVORITE IDEA — THE GRATITUDE BOARD

Since we're entering this beautiful season of thanksgiving, use your board to record blessings.

Place blank cards nearby.

Throughout October and November, whenever something makes you thankful, write it down and add it to the board.

Big things.

Little things.

Answered prayers.

Unexpected blessings.

Funny family moments.

At the end of November, gather together and read them.

What a beautiful family tradition that could become. 💜

💰 WEEKEND CHALLENGE!

Here's your challenge:

MAKE SOMETHING USEFUL FROM SOMETHING YOU ALREADY OWN!

Before heading to the craft store, look through:

👚 Your closet

🧺 Linen closet

📦 Storage boxes

🚗 Garage

🎨 Craft supplies

🏡 Attic

You might already have everything needed for this weekend's projects!

That's what makes crafting on a budget so much fun.

DON'T ASK, “WHAT CAN I BUY?”

Ask...

“WHAT CAN I CREATE WITH WHAT I ALREADY HAVE?” 💜

🌻 WEEKEND INSPIRATION

Creating doesn't always mean making decorations.

Sometimes creativity means finding a new purpose for something old.

An unwanted shirt becomes hand warmers.

An outdated picture frame becomes a place for prayers and family memories.

Something inexpensive becomes useful again.

And sometimes I think there's a lesson in that.

We may look at something—or even a season of our lives—and think its usefulness has ended.

But God can see a purpose we haven't discovered yet.

Sometimes what looks like the end of one thing is simply the beginning of something different.

📖 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)

📸 WEEKEND SHOW & TELL!

Now I want to see YOUR creativity!

What unusual item have you repurposed?

An old shirt?

Picture frame?

Broken piece of furniture?

Curtain?

Tin can?

Old drawer?

Something completely unexpected?

POST A PICTURE!

And if you've found a strange thrift-store treasure but have NO IDEA what to make with it...

POST THAT TOO! 😂

Let's help each other answer:

💜 “WHAT COULD THIS BECOME?”

Have a wonderful, creative, and blessed weekend, everyone! 🍂

THRIFT IT. ♻️ REPURPOSE IT. 🎨 CRAFT IT. ❤️ LOVE IT.
