Finding Possibilities in Everyday Treasures!
🌻 WEEKEND CRAFTS | OCTOBER 16–18, 2026 🌻
HAPPY FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, CRAFTING FRIENDS!
Good morning, everyone! 💜
It's Friday, and another beautiful October weekend is here!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend filled with family, laughter, blessings, a little treasure hunting, and plenty of creativity!
This weekend, we're doing something DIFFERENT!
We're going to rescue three ordinary items and give them beautiful new purposes.
And remember, you don't need a big budget or expensive craft supplies to make something wonderful.
Sometimes the best treasures are the things we already have!
Let's get crafting! 🎨
🍂 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16
🪟 Old Window Shutter → Beautiful Farmhouse Wall Organizer!
Have you ever seen an old wooden shutter at a thrift store, flea market, or yard sale?
Maybe it's scratched, missing a little paint, or just sitting in someone's garage.
DON'T PASS IT BY! 😍
Today we're turning an old shutter into a beautiful and useful farmhouse wall organizer!
Perfect for an entryway, kitchen, office, or craft room.
🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED
One old wooden shutter
Cleaning cloth
Furniture paint (optional)
Paintbrush
Small decorative hooks
Screws and screwdriver
Small metal basket (optional)
Decorative ribbon or greenery
Appropriate wall-mounting hardware
🔨 STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS
1️⃣ FIND YOUR SHUTTER
Look for a sturdy wooden shutter with interesting character.
Check for broken slats, sharp edges, and loose pieces.
2️⃣ CLEAN & PREPARE
Wipe it down thoroughly.
If the shutter has old paint, avoid sanding until you know the finish is lead-safe.
3️⃣ CHOOSE YOUR STYLE
Leave it natural or paint it:
🤍 Antique White🌿 Sage Green🩵 Dusty Blue💜 Muted Lavender🖤 Farmhouse Black
4️⃣ ADD YOUR HOOKS
Attach small hooks securely to the solid wooden frame.
Use them for lightweight items such as keys, decorative tags, or small accessories.
5️⃣ ADD STORAGE
Attach a small lightweight metal basket for mail, notes, or other little items.
You can also tuck photographs or recipe cards between sturdy slats without forcing them.
6️⃣ HANG & ENJOY
Mount your shutter securely using appropriate hardware.
Add a little ribbon or greenery for that cozy cottage look.
And there you have it!
AN OLD SHUTTER HAS BECOME A BEAUTIFUL ORGANIZER!
💰 FRIDAY'S CHALLENGE
Can you create today's shutter organizer for $10 or less?
💜 FRIDAY'S INSPIRATION
Sometimes something that no longer serves its original purpose can become useful in a completely different way.
And isn't that a wonderful reminder that new seasons can bring new opportunities?
📖 Isaiah 43:19 (KJV)
"Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?"
🌻 SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17
🧺 Old Sweater → Beautiful Cozy Cottage Throw Pillow!
Saturday's project is going to be FUN!
We're heading into our closets or favorite thrift stores to find an old sweater.
Maybe it's too small.
Maybe you no longer wear it.
Maybe you found a beautiful cable-knit sweater for just a couple of dollars.
Instead of throwing it away, we're turning it into a gorgeous cozy throw pillow!
Perfect for fall and winter decorating.
🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Old sweater
Pillow insert
Fabric scissors
Needle and thread or sewing machine
Measuring tape
Pins or fabric clips
Decorative buttons (optional)
Ribbon or lace (optional)
🔨 STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS
1️⃣ FIND YOUR SWEATER
Look for a sweater with a pretty texture.
Cable-knit, chunky-knit, or soft cotton sweaters work beautifully.
2️⃣ WASH & DRY
Clean the sweater according to its care label.
Allow it to dry completely.
3️⃣ MEASURE YOUR PILLOW
Choose a pillow insert.
Measure and mark two fabric pieces to fit, allowing room for seams.
4️⃣ CUT YOUR FABRIC
Carefully cut the sweater into two matching pieces.
If the knit unravels easily, secure the cut edges with stitching before assembly.
5️⃣ SEW YOUR PILLOW
Place the right sides together.
Sew around the edges, leaving an opening.
Turn it right-side out and insert your pillow.
Close the opening with a neat hand stitch.
6️⃣ ADD YOUR FINISHING TOUCHES
Decorate with:
🤍 Lace trim🤎 Wooden buttons🎀 Gingham ribbon💜 A small fabric heart
And just like that, you have a beautiful handmade pillow!
💡 BONUS IDEA
Use leftover sweater sleeves to create little fabric gift bags or decorative vase sleeves.
One sweater can become several projects!
💰 SATURDAY'S CHALLENGE
Can you make today's pillow for $5 or less using an insert you already own?
💜 SATURDAY'S INSPIRATION
There's something comforting about taking something old and turning it into something warm and useful.

"She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands."
🙏 SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18
📖 Thrifted Wooden Box → Beautiful Family Blessings & Prayer Box!
Sunday's project is something extra special.
We're creating a beautiful little box for prayers, blessings, memories, and answered prayers.
This is more than a decoration.
It's something you can use throughout the year and perhaps even pass down to your children or grandchildren someday. 💜
🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Small thrifted wooden box
Chalk paint or wood stain
Paintbrush
Decorative paper or fabric
Craft glue
Small wooden cross (optional)
Ribbon or lace
Index cards or small pieces of paper
Pen
Small wooden letters or stencil (optional)
🔨 STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS
1️⃣ FIND YOUR HIDDEN GEM
Look for a small wooden box at a thrift store, estate sale, yard sale, or craft store.
An old recipe box, jewelry box, or unfinished wooden box would be perfect!
2️⃣ CLEAN YOUR BOX
Wipe it down thoroughly.
Remove any damaged lining or loose decorations.
3️⃣ GIVE IT A MAKEOVER
Paint or stain it in your favorite color.
Try antique white, sage green, natural wood, or muted lavender.
Allow it to dry.
4️⃣ DECORATE THE INSIDE
Line the bottom with pretty fabric, decorative paper, or a meaningful Scripture print.
5️⃣ ADD YOUR MESSAGE
Decorate the lid with:
💜 Blessings & Prayers
🙏 God Is Faithful
❤️ Our Family Blessings
🌻 Grateful Hearts
📖 Answered Prayers
Add a ribbon, little wooden cross, or decorative embellishment.
6️⃣ BEGIN FILLING YOUR BOX
Now comes the most meaningful part.

Place them inside your box.
Throughout the year, continue adding to it.
And on difficult days, open it and remember the ways God has been faithful.

At Thanksgiving, Christmas, or another special family gathering, open the box together and read some of the blessings and memories you've collected.
What a meaningful tradition to share with the next generation!

An answered prayer.

A difficult day we somehow made it through.
Our Blessings & Prayer Box is a reminder to pause and remember.
Even during life's hardest seasons, we can bring our burdens to God and find reasons to be thankful for His presence and love.
