# š¼ļø TODAY'S THRIFT FLIP: OLD PICTURE FRAMES ā BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE SERVING TRAYS!
Good morning, crafting friends! š
Today's project starts with something you can find at almost EVERY thrift store, yard sale, or estate saleā**old picture frames!**
You know the ones I'm talking about. š
They may have an outdated picture inside, the frame may be scratched, and sometimes they're sitting in the bargain pile for only a dollar or two.
**DON'T PASS THEM BY!**
We're turning those forgotten frames into beautiful **decorative serving trays**! šø
šļø **WHAT TO HUNT FOR**
Look for a sturdy wooden frame with interesting details. Don't worry about the colorāwe can change that!
You'll need:
š¼ļø Large thrifted picture frame
šØ Furniture or chalk paint
šļø Paintbrush
šŖµ Two small drawer pulls or handles
š Wallpaper, scrapbook paper, fabric, or pretty wrapping paper
šŖ Small screws
š”ļø Clear protective sealer
šæ Optional decorative embellishments
⨠**STEP 1 ā REMOVE THE ARTWORK**
Take the frame apart and remove the old picture.
Save the glass if it's in good condition.
And before throwing that old artwork away, take another look at it! The backing, mat, or even parts of the picture may work for another craft. ā»ļø
šØ **STEP 2 ā GIVE THE FRAME NEW LIFE**
Clean your frame and lightly sand it if necessary.
Then choose your new look:
š¤ Antique White
šæ Sage Green
š Soft Lavender
š¤ Classic Black
𩵠Vintage Blue
š¤ Natural Distressed Wood
Want that beautiful aged look? Lightly sand the edges after painting so some of the original finish peeks through.
šø **STEP 3 ā CREATE THE TRAY BOTTOM**
Here's where you can really have FUN!
Place something beautiful behind the glass:
šø Floral fabric
š Vintage wallpaper
š¼ Old sheet music
š Pretty book pages
šæ Botanical prints
šŗļø Vintage maps
š Old handwritten recipe copies
š· Family photographs
Imagine making one using copies of **Grandma's handwritten recipes**! ā¤ļø
That would make an incredible family keepsake.
šØ **STEP 4 ā ADD HANDLES**
Attach a small drawer pull to each side of the frame.
And here's another thrifting opportunity!
Check those little bags of miscellaneous hardware at thrift stores and estate sales. You can sometimes find gorgeous vintage drawer pulls for next to nothing.
⨠**NOW YOU HAVE A TRAY!**
Use your finished creation on a:
ā Coffee table
šļø Bedroom dresser
šÆļø Dining table
š” Entryway
ā Coffee bar
š Bathroom vanity
Style it with flowers, books, candles, perfume bottles, or other favorite treasures.
**Important:** If you're using a standard picture frame, treat this primarily as a **decorative tray** rather than carrying heavy dishes or hot food. Safety first!
š” **WAITāDON'T HAVE A BIG FRAME?**
Small frames can become:
š Jewelry trays
šÆļø Candle displays
ā Coffee station trays
šø Mini floral displays
š Key catchers
š Memory displays
Nothing has to go to waste!
š° **TODAY'S THRIFTING CHALLENGE**
See if you can find an old frame for **$5 or less**.
But don't look at what is INSIDE the frame.
Look at the **FRAME ITSELF**.
That's one of the secrets to thriftingālearning to see beyond what something currently is and imagining what it could become!
š **TODAY'S INSPIRATION**
Sometimes something simply needs a new purpose.
Isn't that true of life, too?
There are seasons when we may feel overlooked or wonder where we fit, but God sees beyond our present circumstances. He knows exactly how He can use our lives for His purpose.
*"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God..."*
**ā Romans 8:28 (KJV)**
šø **NOW I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!**
If you found a beautiful old frame at an estate sale, what would you put inside your tray?
š Grandma's Recipes
šø Vintage Floral Fabric
š¼ Sheet Music
š· Family Photos
šŗļø Old Map
š” Something completely different!
šø **SHOW US YOUR THRIFT FLIPS!** Post those before-and-after pictures in the comments. Don't worry about perfectionāwe're here to share ideas, encourage one another, and have FUN creating!
**Happy Tuesday & Happy Thrifting! šš¼ļøšøšØāØ**
