Weekend Author Devotionals For January 17th and 18th Keep Writing

 Author Devotional – January 17, 2026

Theme: When the Work Feels Heavy, God Is Still Near Scripture: “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.” — Psalm 55:22 (KJV)

Some days, writing feels joyful and light. Other days, it feels heavy — like carrying words that demand more heart, more effort, more endurance than you expected. Today, God reminds you that you were never meant to carry this work alone.

When the work feels heavy, it does not mean you’re doing it wrong. It often means the work matters. God invites you to bring the weight of it to Him — the doubts, the pressure, the responsibility you feel to get it “right.”

He sustains the writer who leans on Him.He steadies the hands that feel tired. He strengthens the heart that keeps showing up.

Let today be an exchange: your burden for His strength. You don’t have to push through exhaustion in your own power. God is near, sustaining you moment by moment.

Reflection Prayer:

Lord, I give You the weight I’ve been carrying. Sustain me where I feel tired and strengthen me where I feel weak. Help me trust You with this work and rest in Your nearness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Gentle Invitation:Before writing today, pause and name one burden you’re carrying. Offer it to God, then write from a place of release, not strain.

Theme: Renewed Strength for the Journey Scripture: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” — Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

Writing is not a sprint — it is a journey that requires renewal along the way. God never intended you to run on empty. He promises renewed strength to those who wait on Him.

Waiting is not wasting time. It is receiving strength.

When you slow down enough to seek God, He lifts the heaviness, refreshes your spirit, and restores your focus. Renewal doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it comes quietly — as peace, clarity, or a gentle nudge forward.

Today is an invitation to pause without guilt. To breathe without pressure. To trust that God will renew what feels worn and weary. When He strengthens you, your writing flows from abundance instead of exhaustion.

Reflection Prayer:

Lord, I wait on You today. Renew my strength, restore my joy, and refill what feels empty. Help me continue this journey with fresh endurance and trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Gentle Invitation: Do one thing today that renews you — prayer, rest, worship, or quiet reflection — then return to your writing with a refreshed heart.
