A Day of Worship, Rest, and Renewal

Happy Sunday, dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

Today is the Lord’s Day—a time set apart to rest from our striving, to realign our hearts, and to lift our hands in worship. In a world that keeps us running, Sunday reminds us to be still and know that He is God.

Whether you're heading to church, worshiping at home, or spending quiet time in the Word, let today be a reset for your soul.

✝️ Verse of the Day“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

This day isn’t ordinary—it’s holy. It was handcrafted by God Himself.

Rejoice in His goodness.Rest in His promises.Receive His peace.

Let everything you do today—from your first cup of coffee to your last prayer before bed—be soaked in gratitude and grace.

On This Day in History – August 3

  • 1492 – Christopher Columbus set sail from Spain, searching for a new world. God often calls us to set sail into the unknown, trusting His hand to guide the way.

  • 1923 – President Calvin Coolidge took the oath of office at his family home. A reminder that leadership often begins in humble, quiet places.

  • 1981 – Major air traffic controllers' strike in the U.S. began. Just like in chaos, God brings order to our lives when we surrender control to Him.

National Days – August 3

  • National Friendship Day – Thank God for the friends who walk with you in faith and love. Reach out, bless someone, and let them know how grateful you are.

  • National Watermelon Day – Sweet, refreshing, and perfectly in season. God’s creation delights and nourishes us—enjoy the simple gifts today!

Sunday Reflection: Made for MoreThis world will try to define your worth by what you do. But today, remember:

You are loved not for what you accomplish, but because of who you belong to.

You were created to worship. To rest. To live in relationship with your Creator. And Sunday is the day we return to that truth.

Let this be a Sabbath for your soul.

Sunday Prayer:Lord, thank You for this holy day. Thank You for time to pause, worship, and be refreshed in Your presence. Restore my soul today. Draw me near, speak to my heart, and lead me into the week ahead with grace and purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Challenge:Make space to rest in God’s presence today. Whether through a worship song, a quiet walk, or reading His Word, choose one moment to simply be with Him.

You were not created to burn out. You were created to abide.Let today renew your spirit as you draw close to the One who made you.

With Sunday peace and joy,Sarah M. SkaggsAgape Love Ministry"This is the day the Lord has made—let us rejoice and be glad in it!"
