“God Carried Me Through Another Month”

📖 Scripture — KJV

“Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.”1 Samuel 7:12

🌿 Devotional Thought

Today we come to the final day of August.

Another month has passed.

For some, August brought beautiful memories.

For others, it brought difficult anniversaries, birthdays, empty chairs, unexpected tears, and moments when the loneliness seemed especially heavy.

Maybe this month included days when you laughed.

Maybe it included days when you cried.

Maybe there were mornings when you woke up feeling strong and others when simply getting out of bed felt like an accomplishment.

But look at where you are today.

You made it through another month.

Not because every day was easy.

Not because you stopped missing the person you love.

Not because grief suddenly disappeared.

But because somewhere between August 1 and August 31, God kept carrying you.

💜 “Hitherto Hath the LORD Helped Us”

I love these words from 1 Samuel.

Samuel placed a stone of remembrance and called it Ebenezer, saying:

"Hitherto hath the LORD helped us."

In other words:

“God has helped us this far.”

What a beautiful statement for a grieving heart.

Look back over this month.

There were moments you didn't know how you would get through.

But you did.

There were tears you didn't think would stop.

Eventually, they did.

There were memories that took your breath away.

God stayed with you.

There were quiet nights.

Unexpected reminders.

Hard conversations.

And perhaps even moments of joy that surprised you.

Through every one of them—

God was there.

🌸 Don't Measure Healing by the Calendar

Sometimes the end of another month reminds us how long it has been since our loved one left this earth.

We begin counting.

Weeks.

Months.

Years.

And sometimes we wonder:

“Shouldn't I be further along by now?”

Please don't measure your grief against a calendar.

There is no deadline for missing someone.

There is no expiration date on love.

You may be doing wonderfully for weeks and then suddenly hear a song that brings tears.

That doesn't mean you've gone backward.

It means you remembered.

And remembering someone you love is not failure.

Give yourself grace.

God certainly does.

🌿 Look at How Far God Has Brought You

Sometimes grief keeps our eyes focused on how far we still have to go.

Today, turn around for a moment.

Look behind you.

Remember some of the days you thought you couldn't survive.

You survived them.

Remember the nights you thought would never end.

Morning came.

Remember when you wondered whether you would ever laugh again.

Then one day, something made you smile.

Perhaps you still have a long journey ahead.

But don't overlook what God has already done.

There is evidence of His faithfulness all along the road behind you.

🕊️ Carry the Love Into September

Tomorrow begins a new month.

You don't have to leave your loved one in August.

Take the memories with you.

Take the stories.

Take the lessons.

Take the traditions.

Take the laughter.

Take the love.

But perhaps there are a few things we can leave behind.

Leave behind some of the guilt.

Leave behind the pressure to grieve according to someone else's timetable.

Leave behind the belief that enjoying life means forgetting.

Leave behind the expectation that you must always be strong.

Carry the love. Release the burden.

And walk into September holding tightly to God's hand.

🌷 A New Month Doesn't Mean Forgetting

Tomorrow isn't about “moving on.”

It's about continuing forward.

There are still people to love.

There are still memories to make.

There are still prayers to pray.

There are still stories to tell.

There are still people who may need the comfort God has taught you through your own grief.

And there are still blessings you haven't experienced yet.

Your story isn't finished.

God is still writing.

🙏 End-of-August Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Here we are at the end of another month.

Some days were beautiful.

Some days were difficult.

Some days brought laughter, and others brought tears.

But through every single one, You were faithful.

Thank You for carrying us when we didn't have the strength to carry ourselves.

Thank You for comforting us when memories became painful.

Thank You for every person we have been blessed to love and every memory we continue to treasure.

As we close August, help us release the burdens we were never meant to carry.

Take our guilt.

Take our fear.

Take our unanswered questions.

Take our worries about tomorrow.

And as we enter a new month, fill us with renewed faith, strength, peace, and hope.

Help us continue speaking the names of those we love, telling their stories, and carrying their legacy forward.

Most importantly, keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus.

Thank You that we can look back today and say:

“Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.”

And because You have been faithful this far, we can trust You with every tomorrow.

In Jesus' precious Name,

Amen.

💜 Agape Love August 31 Reminder

Another month has passed, and God has carried you through every single day. Don't measure your healing by the calendar. Don't feel guilty for the tears that still come or the laughter that is beginning to return. Carry the memories. Speak their names. Tell their stories. Treasure the love. Release the burdens into God's hands—and walk into the new month knowing the same God who carried you through August is already waiting for you in September.

Look back and say, “God carried me.”

Look ahead and say, “God will carry me.”

And today simply say, “Thank You, Lord, for bringing me this far.” 💜
