Hold On • Be Still • Look Up

Grief can change from one day to the next.

Friday may find you struggling.

Saturday may find you exhausted.

Sunday may find your heart searching for hope.

Wherever this weekend finds you, there is one truth that never changes:

God is still there.

You don't have to walk this journey perfectly.

You simply have to keep placing your hand in His.

💜 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

HOLD ON — This Moment Will Not Last Forever

📖 Scripture — KJV

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”Psalm 46:1

Some grief days feel heavier than others.

Maybe you woke up missing them terribly.

Maybe you dreamed about them last night and, for a few precious moments, it felt as though they were still here.

Then you woke up.

Maybe a song came on the radio.

A photograph appeared.

Someone mentioned their name.

Or maybe nothing happened at all.

Today simply hurts.

On days like this, don't try to figure out the rest of your life.

Just hold on.

🌿 God Is Present in This Moment

Notice what Psalm 46 says:

God is a “very present help.”

Not only yesterday.

Not someday.

Present.

Right now.

In this moment.

If you're crying while reading this, He's there.

If you're sitting alone drinking your morning coffee, He's there.

If you're surrounded by people but still feel lonely, He's there.

If you don't even know what to pray, He's there.

Sometimes the strongest prayer we can pray is simply:

“Jesus, help me.”

That's enough.

💜 Don't Make Permanent Decisions During Temporary Pain

Grief can make a painful moment feel endless.

But feelings change.

Circumstances change.

Tomorrow may feel completely different.

There are still people who love you.

There are still prayers God can answer.

There are still sunrises you haven't seen.

There are still moments of laughter you haven't experienced.

There are still people whose lives may someday be blessed because you kept going.

Hold on.

This chapter is not the whole story.

🌻 Friday Grief Support Challenge

Today, write these words somewhere you can see them:

“I don't have to figure out forever today.”

Then take the day one hour at a time if necessary.

Drink some water.

Eat something.

Step outside.

Call someone.

Pray.

Rest.

And keep going.

🙏 Friday Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Today feels heavy.

I don't need answers for everything.

I simply need You.

When grief feels stronger than I do, remind me that Your strength is greater.

When my thoughts run too far ahead, bring me back to this moment.

Give me enough grace for today.

Enough strength for this hour.

And enough faith for the next step.

Thank You for staying beside me.

In Jesus' precious Name,

Amen.

🌿 SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

BE STILL — Your Tired Heart Needs Rest

📖 Scripture — KJV

“Be still, and know that I am God.”Psalm 46:10

Grief can make us tired in ways sleep doesn't always fix.

Your body may be tired.

Your mind may be tired.

Your heart may be tired.

Sometimes you're even tired of being asked:

“Are you okay?”

Because you don't know how to answer.

Today, perhaps your heart doesn't need another explanation.

Maybe it simply needs rest.

💜 You Don't Have to Fix Everything Today

We spend so much time trying to understand.

Why did this happen?

Why now?

Why them?

Why didn't God answer the way I prayed?

Some questions may never receive the answers we want on this side of Heaven.

And constantly trying to solve what we cannot understand can exhaust our hearts.

Today, God invites us:

“Be still.”

That doesn't mean your questions don't matter.

It means you don't have to answer all of them before you can rest in Him.

🌷 Give Yourself Permission to Have a Quiet Day

You don't have to fill every hour.

You don't have to be productive.

You don't have to attend everything.

You don't have to make everyone else comfortable with your grief.

Maybe today looks like:

A slow cup of coffee.

A quiet morning.

An open Bible.

A walk outside.

Listening to hymns.

Working on a craft.

Looking through photographs.

Taking a nap.

Sitting on the porch and talking to God.

Rest is not weakness.

Sometimes resting is an act of trust.

It says:

“God, the world can keep turning while I sit here with You for a little while.”

🌸 Remember Without Rushing Away

If a memory comes today, sit with it for a moment.

Don't immediately distract yourself.

Remember their face.

Their laugh.

Their voice.

Something funny they did.

Something they taught you.

Then say:

“Thank You, Lord, for that memory.”

You don't have to forget in order to heal.

Sometimes healing means learning how to remember without being afraid of what the memory will make us feel.

🌻 Saturday Grief Support Challenge

Give yourself 30 quiet minutes today.

No chores.

No social media.

No pressure.

Sit somewhere peaceful.

Open your Bible.

Drink your coffee.

Listen to worship music.

Or simply sit quietly.

Then pray:

“Lord, quiet everything inside me that needs Your peace.”

🙏 Saturday Prayer

Heavenly Father,

My heart is tired.

Today I choose to be still.

I give You the questions I cannot answer.

The memories I cannot change.

The people I cannot bring back.

And the future I cannot control.

Quiet my heart.

Restore my strength.

Let Your presence become my resting place.

Thank You that I don't have to understand everything to trust You.

In Jesus' precious Name,

Amen.

🕊️ SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

LOOK UP — There Is Still Hope Beyond the Goodbye

📖 Scripture — KJV

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”1 Thessalonians 4:14

Sunday reminds us where our hope is found.

Not in pretending death doesn't hurt.

Not in pretending we don't miss someone.

Not in pretending our hearts aren't broken.

Our hope is Jesus Christ.

Because Jesus died and rose again, death does not have the final word for those who belong to Him.

That changes everything.

💜 We Grieve, But We Have Hope

Christians still cry.

Jesus Himself wept.

Faith doesn't mean funerals don't hurt.

It doesn't mean empty chairs don't matter.

It doesn't mean we never have difficult days.

But grief through faith contains something precious:

Hope.

Hope that this life isn't all there is.

Hope that death is not the end.

Hope in the promises of God.

Hope in Jesus.

Hope in Heaven.

🌷 One Day There Will Be No More Goodbyes

Imagine a day when there are no funeral homes.

No cemeteries.

No hospital rooms.

No cancer.

No disease.

No tragic phone calls.

No empty chairs.

No anniversaries of loss.

No tears caused by separation.

Revelation 21:4 tells us there is coming a day when God will wipe away every tear.

What a day that will be.

Until then, we keep walking.

🌿 Your Story Still Has Purpose Here

While we look toward Heaven, God has still given us today.

There are people to love.

Children and grandchildren to encourage.

Friends who need us.

People who need prayer.

Someone walking through grief who may need to hear:

“I've been there. Sit down. Let's talk.”

Maybe one reason you're still here is because your testimony will someday help someone survive a day they thought they couldn't.

Your story still matters.

🌸 Carry Their Love Forward

Honor the people you miss by carrying the best of them forward.

Tell their stories.

Make their recipes.

Share their photographs.

Repeat the lessons they taught you.

If they loved Jesus, tell the next generation about their faith.

If they were generous, give.

If they made everyone laugh, tell the funny stories.

If they loved family, gather yours together.

Let their love continue producing love through you.

That is legacy.

🌻 Sunday Grief Support Challenge

Today, look upward.

Step outside if you're able.

Look at the sky.

Then say:

“Lord, thank You that my grief is not without hope.”

Afterward, do one thing that carries your loved one's legacy forward.

Tell a story.

Share a photograph.

Make a recipe.

Help someone.

Encourage someone.

Love someone.

🙏 Sunday Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Today I lift my eyes toward You.

Thank You that because of Jesus, death does not have the final word.

When my heart aches for those I miss, remind me of the hope found in Christ.

Help me continue living the life You've given me.

Use my story.

Use my memories.

Use even my broken places to encourage someone else.

Help me carry forward the love and lessons of those who have gone before me.

And until the day when every tear is wiped away, keep my eyes fixed upon Jesus.

In His precious Name,

Amen.
