Today's Devotional
"Peace That Stays"
Scripture (KJV)
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."— John 14:27
Devotional Thought
There are many things this world cannot give us.
It cannot erase the pain of losing someone we love.
It cannot answer every "why."
It cannot bring back yesterday.
But there is one thing this world also cannot take away—
The peace of Christ.
God's peace is different from the peace the world offers.
The world's peace depends on circumstances.
God's peace depends on His presence.
You may still miss your loved one.
You may still shed tears.
You may still have moments when grief catches you by surprise.
Yet, in the middle of those moments, God's peace can quietly settle over your heart.
It is the peace that reminds you:
"You are not alone."
It is the peace that whispers:
"I am with you."
It is the peace that carries you through another difficult day when you didn't think you had the strength to keep going.
Sometimes we think peace means the absence of pain.
But often, peace is the presence of God in the middle of the pain.
That is why Jesus could tell His disciples, "Let not your heart be troubled."
He knew difficult days were coming.
He knew sorrow would visit them.
Yet He also knew that His presence would never leave them.
Friend, if your heart feels unsettled today, don't search for peace in things that cannot satisfy.
Come into the presence of the Prince of Peace.
Open His Word.
Whisper His name.
Sit quietly with Him.
Allow His Spirit to calm your anxious thoughts.
You may not have every answer today.
But you can have His peace.
And His peace is enough.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the peace that only You can give. When grief causes our hearts to feel troubled, remind us that Your presence is greater than our fears. Fill our minds with Your promises, quiet our anxious thoughts, and help us rest in the assurance that You are always with us. Thank You for being our refuge, our comfort, and our everlasting peace.
In Jesus' precious Name, Amen.
