🌻 Good Friday Morning, Sweet Friends!

Good morning, everyone! ā¤ļø

Happy Friday, y'all!

The coffee is brewing, another beautiful autumn morning is here, and we've been blessed with the gift of another day.

Before we get caught up in everything we need to accomplish, I want us to think about something.

How many times have we allowed yesterday's troubles to follow us into a brand-new day?

Maybe yesterday didn't go as planned.

Maybe someone hurt your feelings.

Maybe you received disappointing news.

Maybe you made a mistake or spent the evening worrying about something you couldn't change.

And now, before today has even begun, you're already carrying yesterday's burdens.

Friends, I've learned that we can spend so much time looking at what went wrong that we miss what God is doing right in front of us.

šŸ“– Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)

"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."

Did you catch those beautiful words?

They are new every morning!

Not just on Mondays.

Not just when everything is going right.

Not just when life is easy.

Every morning!

So today, sweet friends, don't let yesterday's disappointment steal today's opportunity to experience God's goodness.

Take a sip of that coffee, thank the Lord for another sunrise, and remember:

Yesterday may have been difficult, but God has given us today.Ā ā¤ļø

šŸ“œ This Day in History — October 16

šŸ“– 1758 — Noah Webster Was Born

Noah Webster, the American educator and dictionary maker, was born in Connecticut.

His work helped shape American education and the English language as it is used in the United States.

āš”ļø 1859 — John Brown's Raid on Harpers Ferry Began

Abolitionist John Brown and his followers launched a raid on the federal armory at Harpers Ferry, hoping to spark an uprising against slavery.

The raid failed, but it intensified national tensions in the years leading up to the Civil War.

šŸŽ¬ 1923 — The Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio Was Founded

Walt Disney and his brother Roy established the studio that would eventually become The Walt Disney Company.

What began as a small creative venture grew into an internationally recognized entertainment business.

šŸŒŽ 1962 — The Cuban Missile Crisis Began

President John F. Kennedy was informed of Soviet nuclear missile installations in Cuba, beginning a dangerous confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union.

⛪ 1978 — Pope John Paul II Was Elected

Cardinal Karol Wojtyła of Poland was elected pope, becoming the first non-Italian pope in more than 450 years.

ā¤ļø A Thought From History

History reminds us that yesterday's events can influence tomorrow's world.

Some decisions bring progress.

Others bring hardship.

And many teach us lessons we should never forget.

But friends, we cannot change the past by living in it.

We can learn from yesterday, make better choices today, and trust God with tomorrow.

šŸ“– Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV)

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Keep learning, keep growing, and keep moving forward in faith!

āœļø Christian Heritage — Desmond Tutu and the Call to Reconciliation

On October 16, 1984, South African Anglican bishop Desmond TutuĀ was named the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Tutu became internationally known for his opposition to apartheid, South Africa's system of racial segregation and discrimination.

His Christian faith influenced his advocacy for human dignity, justice, nonviolence, and reconciliation.

His life reminds us of an important responsibility we have as followers of Christ.

We are called to love people, even when loving them requires courage.

It's easy to be kind when everyone agrees with us.

It's easy to forgive when the offense is small.

It's easy to speak about peace when our own lives are peaceful.

But what happens when someone hurts us?

What happens when we witness someone being treated unfairly?

What happens when doing the right thing is unpopular?

That's when our faith must become more than words.

šŸ“– Micah 6:8 (KJV)

"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"

Friends, we may not be able to change the whole world.

But we can make a difference in the world immediately around us.

We can refuse to participate in cruelty.

We can treat people with dignity.

We can speak kindly.

We can forgive while still maintaining healthy boundaries.

And we can pray for God's love to be reflected in everything we do.

Sometimes the most powerful testimony is simply the way we treat another person.

šŸŽ‰ Fun & Interesting Holidays Today

šŸž World Food Day

Today recognizes the importance of food security and the need to address hunger around the world.

What a wonderful opportunity to donate to a local food pantry, share a meal, or help a neighbor who may be struggling.

šŸ“š National Dictionary Day

Celebrated on Noah Webster's birthday!

Here's a fun challenge: learn one new word today and try to use it in a conversation.

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ’¼ National Boss's Day

A day to recognize supervisors, managers, and employers who lead with fairness, patience, and kindness.

And let's remember that good leadership is about serving and encouraging others, not simply being in charge.

🩺 National Mammography Day

Observed on the third Friday of October, this day encourages breast health awareness and conversations with healthcare professionals about appropriate screening.

🐈 Global Cat Day

A day encouraging kindness toward cats and responsible care for community cats.

ā¤ļø Today's Kindness Challenge

Since today is World Food Day, why not share a little blessing with someone?

Perhaps you could donate a few canned goods.

Take a meal to someone who is sick.

Help stock a church food pantry.

Or simply invite someone to share a meal with you.

šŸ“– Hebrews 13:16 (KJV)

"But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

A small kindness may be a very big blessing to someone else.

šŸ” Heritage Corner — Friday Evenings and the Simple Joys of Home

Do y'all remember what Fridays were like when we were growing up?

There was something special about knowing the workweek or schoolweek was coming to an end.

Maybe Mama had supper cooking on the stove.

Maybe Daddy was coming home tired after a long week of work.

Maybe the children were excited because they didn't have to get up early for school the next morning.

For some families, Friday meant a trip to the grocery store.

For others, it meant sitting on the porch, visiting with neighbors, or listening to the radio.

Sometimes the greatest excitement was getting a special treat from the store!

And wasn't it wonderful when the house smelled like homemade biscuits, cornbread, or something simmering in a big pot?

Those days weren't perfect.

Families still had bills to pay.

People still worried.

There were disagreements, disappointments, and difficult seasons.

But so many of our happiest memories came from the simplest things.

A family meal.

A front porch conversation.

A familiar voice calling us inside.

The sound of laughter coming from the kitchen.

And the comfort of knowing we were home.

Friends, sometimes I think we spend too much time wishing for something bigger when the greatest blessings are already sitting around our table.

šŸ“– 1 Timothy 6:6 (KJV)

"But godliness with contentment is great gain."

ā¤ļø Today's Heritage Question

What did your family usually do on Friday evenings when you were growing up?

Did you watch television together, go grocery shopping, visit relatives, or enjoy a special family supper?

And here's another question:

What was your favorite Friday night meal?

Share your memories in the comments! šŸ

šŸ“– Yesterday's Bible Trivia Answer!

Yesterday I asked:

Who did God call to leave his country and his father's house and journey to a land God would show him?

🄁🄁🄁

The correct answer is...

ā¤ļø B. ABRAHAM!

šŸ“– Genesis 12:1 (KJV)

"Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:"

God called Abram, whose name was later changed to Abraham, to leave what was familiar and follow His direction.

Abraham didn't have every detail of the journey.

He had to trust the Lord.

And friends, isn't that what faith often requires of us?

Sometimes we want God to show us the entire road before we take the first step.

But sometimes He simply asks us to trust Him with the next step.

Faith isn't knowing everything about the journey. It's trusting the One who leads us.

How many of you got yesterday's answer right? ā¤ļø

🧠 Today's Bible Trivia

Let's have a little Friday Bible fun!

Which prophet was fed by ravens while hiding by the brook Cherith?

A. ElishaB. IsaiahC. ElijahD. Jeremiah

šŸ“– Don't Google it! šŸ˜‚

šŸ“– Today's Bible Reading

Isaiah 43:16–21 (KJV)

Today's key verse:

šŸ“– Isaiah 43:18–19

"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."

What a beautiful reminder of God's power!

These words were spoken to God's people in a particular time of difficulty and promised His ability to make a way forward.

They also remind us today that our past does not limit what God is able to do.

Maybe you've made mistakes.

Maybe you've suffered disappointments.

Maybe you've experienced a loss that changed your life forever.

That doesn't mean your life no longer has purpose.

God can still strengthen you.

He can still guide you.

He can still use your life to bless someone else.

And He can still bring moments of hope into seasons that feel terribly dark.

Your story isn't finished simply because one chapter was painful.

🌻 Today's Inspiration — Don't Let Yesterday's Troubles Steal Today's Blessings

Friends, I want to talk about something many of us struggle with.

Letting go of yesterday.

Sometimes we carry yesterday's disappointments around like an old suitcase.

We remember every hurtful word.

Every mistake.

Every opportunity we missed.

Every time someone let us down.

Every decision we wish we could change.

And before long, that suitcase becomes so heavy that we can hardly enjoy the blessings right in front of us.

But here's something I've learned.

We can remember yesterday without allowing it to control today.

Now, I want to be careful about something.

Some things cannot simply be forgotten.

The loss of someone we love is not something we just put behind us.

There are people we will miss for the rest of our lives.

There are painful experiences that leave lasting scars.

And there are seasons that change us forever.

Moving forward doesn't mean pretending those things never happened.

It doesn't mean we stop loving the people we've lost.

It doesn't mean we never cry again.

And it certainly doesn't mean our pain was unimportant.

Sometimes moving forward means learning to carry our memories with love while allowing God to help us live the life still before us.

Other times, yesterday's troubles are smaller things.

A disagreement.

A frustrating day.

A mistake at work.

An unkind comment.

A plan that didn't work out.

And we have to ask ourselves:

Is this something I need to learn from, something I need to make right, or something I simply need to release?

Because those are three very different things.

If we made a mistake, we can take responsibility and try to correct it.

If we hurt someone, we can apologize.

If someone hurt us, we can prayerfully decide what healthy boundaries or conversations are needed.

But if we've done everything we reasonably can, there comes a time when continuing to replay the situation only steals our peace.

šŸ“– Matthew 6:34 (KJV)

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."

Jesus reminds us not to become consumed with tomorrow's worries.

And I believe there's a valuable lesson here about yesterday too.

God gives us grace to live today.

Not yesterday again.

Not next week all at once.

Today.

Maybe today is the day you begin something you've been putting off.

Maybe today is the day you forgive someone.

Maybe today is the day you forgive yourself for a mistake you've already confessed and worked to correct.

Maybe today is the day you reach out to an old friend.

Maybe today is the day you stop telling yourself you're too old, too inexperienced, or too far behind to begin again.

Or maybe today is simply the day you rest and thank God for carrying you through another difficult week.

Whatever today holds, don't miss its blessings because you're too busy staring at yesterday.

Look around.

Notice the beauty of the changing leaves.

Listen to the birds.

Enjoy that cup of coffee.

Tell someone you love them.

Say a prayer for someone who's hurting.

Thank God for the strength that brought you this far.

And remember, sweet friends:

A difficult yesterday does not mean you cannot have a meaningful today.

God's mercy is still new this morning.

His love is still faithful.

And His presence is still with us.

ā¤ļø God is right on time!

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

šŸ™ Let's Pray Together

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for blessing us with another beautiful Friday morning.

Thank You for the gift of life, the beauty of this autumn season, and the promise of Your mercy that is new every morning.

Lord, today I pray for those who are carrying heavy burdens from yesterday.

Those who are struggling with regret.

Those who are hurting because of something someone said or did.

Those who are disappointed because life hasn't turned out the way they expected.

And those who are grieving someone they love and trying to find their way through another day without them.

Father, please give them comfort and strength.

Help us learn from our mistakes without allowing them to define us.

Help us forgive where forgiveness is needed.

Give us courage to make things right when we've done wrong.

And give us wisdom to know when it's time to stop carrying something we cannot change.

Lord, open our eyes to the blessings around us today.

Help us appreciate the little things.

The warmth of a home.

A meal on the table.

A kind word.

A familiar voice.

A beautiful sunrise.

And the people You've placed in our lives.

We pray for those who are hungry, sick, lonely, struggling financially, or facing difficult decisions.

Help us be willing to share what we have and encourage those who need hope.

As we head into the weekend, protect our families, guide our steps, and draw us closer to You.

And through everything, remind us that Your faithfulness never fails.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen. ā¤ļø

ā˜• Friday Food for Thought

Don't allow yesterday's disappointments to become today's distractions.

šŸ Learn from the past.

ā¤ļø Treasure the memories.

šŸ™ Release what you cannot change.

🌻 Appreciate the blessings of today.

And remember:

You cannot go back and rewrite yesterday, but with God's help, you can make today a chapter filled with faith, kindness, and purpose.

Have a wonderful and blessed Friday, sweet friends!

May your coffee be warm, your heart be peaceful, and your weekend be filled with love, laughter, and reminders of God's goodness.

And don't forget to take a little time this weekend to rest, worship, and thank the Lord for bringing you through another week.
