💜 Don't Bury the Gift God Gave You!

Today's Scripture (KJV)

"Neglect not the gift that is in thee..." — 1 Timothy 4:14

Good Tuesday morning, authors, writers, and future authors! ☕📖

This morning, I want to talk to the person who has a story inside of them but keeps finding reasons not to write it.

Maybe you've been saying:

"I'll start when life slows down."

"I'll write when I have more time."

"I'll wait until I know more about publishing."

"I'll begin when I feel more confident."

Or perhaps you've convinced yourself that your story isn't important enough to share.

Friend, I want to encourage you today.

Don't bury the gift God gave you simply because you're afraid of what someone else might think!

🌿 What Are You Doing With the Gift in Your Hands?

In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells the parable of the talents.

A man entrusted his servants with different amounts before leaving on a journey.

Two servants put what they had been given to work, but one servant became afraid and buried his talent in the ground.

When the master returned, that servant still had what he had been given, but he had done nothing with it.

Now, this parable teaches us about faithfulness with what God entrusts to us. And I believe there is a beautiful lesson here for writers.

How often do we bury our ideas because we're afraid?

We hide our stories in notebooks.

We keep our testimonies to ourselves.

We talk about writing a book someday, but someday never seems to arrive.

We watch other authors publish their books and think, "I wish I could do that."

Well, what is stopping you from taking the first step?

Maybe you don't know everything yet.

Neither did the authors you admire when they began.

Maybe you need help.

There is nothing wrong with asking!

Maybe you're afraid of making mistakes.

You probably will make a few. I know I have! 😊

But mistakes can become lessons, and lessons can help us grow.

Don't let fear become the reason your story remains unwritten.

💜 God Doesn't Expect You to Be Someone Else

One of the biggest mistakes we make is comparing our gifts to someone else's.

We look at another author and see their beautiful book covers, polished websites, large following, and published books.

Then we look at our unfinished manuscript and become discouraged.

But God didn't ask you to become that author.

He gave you your own experiences, personality, imagination, and voice.

Some of us write mysteries.

Some write children's books.

Some write devotionals.

Some write poetry, family histories, cookbooks, or testimonies.

And some of us have a little bit of everything floating around in our heads! 😂

That's okay!

Your writing doesn't have to look like someone else's to have value.

Learn from other writers, but don't lose yourself trying to become them.

✍️ Stop Waiting for the Perfect Time

I have learned something about life.

If we wait until everything is perfect, we may never accomplish what God has placed on our hearts.

There will always be something needing our attention.

Work.

Family.

Responsibilities.

Appointments.

Unexpected problems.

Life doesn't stop so we can write a book.

Sometimes we have to make room for the dream while living the life God has given us.

Maybe you only have fifteen minutes today.

Use them.

Maybe you can write one paragraph.

Write it.

Maybe you need to research one publishing question.

Do it.

Maybe all you can accomplish is opening that manuscript you've been avoiding.

That's a beginning!

God can work through small acts of faithfulness.

🌸 Your Story May Be Part of Someone Else's Encouragement

Think about the books that have made a difference in your life.

Perhaps one helped you through grief.

One strengthened your faith.

One taught you something new.

One made you laugh during a difficult season.

One reminded you of your childhood.

One helped you understand that you weren't alone.

Now imagine if those authors had allowed fear to stop them from writing.

You may never know every person your words encourage.

And not every story has to become a published book to matter.

Some stories are meant to be preserved for family.

Some are meant to be shared with a small group.

Some become books that travel into homes we may never visit.

The important thing is being faithful with what God has entrusted to us.

🙏 Tuesday Author Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for another beautiful day and another opportunity to use the gifts You have given us.

Today, I pray for every author and future author reading these words.

Lord, You know the stories they carry.

You know the ideas sitting in notebooks and the manuscripts waiting to be finished.

You know the fears, doubts, and discouragement that sometimes keep us from moving forward.

Give us courage to begin.

Give us wisdom to learn.

Give us patience with the process.

Help us stop comparing our gifts to someone else's.

Remind us that You created each of us with purpose.

Teach us to be faithful with what You have placed in our hands.

And when we don't know what to write next, help us seek Your direction.

May our words bring encouragement, hope, truth, laughter, and love to those who read them.

Above everything else, may our lives and our writing bring glory to You.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

Maybe it's a book idea you've had for years.

Maybe it's an unfinished manuscript.

Maybe it's a testimony you've been afraid to share.

Whatever it is, let's take one step today.

Pray over it. Write it down. Learn what you don't know. And trust God to guide you along the way.

Author, today may be the day you finally stop saying, "Someday."

Today may be the day you open that notebook.

Today may be the day you write the first paragraph.

Today may be the day you return to the manuscript you almost gave up on.

You don't have to know how the entire story will end.

You don't have to have every publishing question answered.

You don't have to become someone else.

Just be faithful with the gift God gave YOU.

And remember, friend...

Your story may be the very thing God uses to encourage someone else to keep going. 💜📖✍️
