✍️ Agape Love Publishing – Weekend Author Devotional
September 18–20
BELIEVE • WORK • TRUST
Sometimes God places a story in our hearts long before we understand what He plans to do with it.
This weekend, we're going to stop worrying about how big the book will become and concentrate on being faithful with the story we've been given.
💜 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
Believe in the Story God Placed in Your Heart
📖 Today's Scripture
"For with God nothing shall be impossible."— Luke 1:37 (KJV)
Good Friday morning, authors! 💜📖
Yesterday we talked about refusing to let discouragement silence our stories.
Today I want to take that one step further.
It's one thing to ignore someone else saying:
“You can't do this.”
But what happens when the person saying it is you?
Sometimes our greatest discourager isn't another person.
It's the voice inside our own head.
“I'm not educated enough.”
“I'm too old to start.”
“I'm too young for anyone to take seriously.”
“My grammar isn't good enough.”
“I don't understand publishing.”
“Nobody knows who I am.”
“What if I fail?”
Author, stop counting all the reasons you think you can't and start remembering the God who can.
🌿 You Don't Have to Know Everything Today
Maybe you don't know how to publish a book.
You can learn.
Maybe editing isn't your strength.
Someone can help.
Maybe you don't understand formatting.
Learn one step at a time.
Maybe your writing needs improvement.
Keep writing.
Nobody begins as an expert.
A willingness to learn can take you places fear says you'll never reach.
💜 Believe Enough to Begin
Believing in your story doesn't mean believing every sentence you write is wonderful.
It means believing the story is worth enough to work on it.
Pray over it.
Develop it.
Research.
Write.
Rewrite.
Ask questions.
Receive correction.
Grow.
You don't have to say:
“This is going to be a bestseller!”
Simply say:
“This story is worth giving my best effort.”
That's enough for today.
🙏 Friday Author Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the ideas and stories You've placed within us.
When doubt tells us we're incapable, remind us that we don't walk this journey alone.
Give us wisdom to learn what we don't know.
Give us courage to begin.
Give us humility to accept help.
And help us believe enough in what You've placed within our hearts to faithfully develop it.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.
✍️ Friday Author Challenge
CHANGE “I CAN'T” INTO “I CAN LEARN”
Write down the biggest thing making you doubt yourself as an author.
Then underneath it write:
“With God's help, I can learn the next step.”
Spend 20 minutes working on that next step today.
Not the entire book.
Just the next step.
💜 FRIDAY AUTHORS HUB CHECK-IN
Tell us:
What almost kept you from becoming a writer?
Published authors, share your book links and tell us what you had to overcome to finish your first book.
Current and future authors, tell us what fear you're working through.
Then encourage someone else.
🌷 Friday Encouragement
“You don't have to know everything about writing the book before believing the story is worth beginning.”
Pray.
Believe.
Learn.
And write.
✍️ SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
The Dream Still Requires the Work
📖 Today's Scripture
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"— Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
Good Saturday morning, authors! 💜
We love talking about dreams.
“I'm going to write a book.”
“I'm going to become an author.”
“Someday I'm going to publish my story.”
Dreams are beautiful.
But eventually...
Somebody has to sit down and write the book. 😊
Prayer doesn't replace the work.
Inspiration doesn't replace the work.
Buying a beautiful notebook doesn't replace the work.
Talking about the book doesn't replace the work.
And designing the cover before Chapter One is written certainly doesn't replace the work. 😂
There comes a time when faith says:
“Now put your hands to what you've been praying about.”
🌿 Writing Is Work
Writing requires discipline.
Research takes time.
Editing requires patience.
Publishing requires learning.
Marketing requires consistency.
There will be days when you love it.
There will be days when you wonder why you started.
Both are part of the journey.
A calling doesn't mean every step will be easy.
Sometimes purpose looks like showing up when you don't feel like it.
💜 Give God Your Best, Not Your Leftovers
If this book matters to you, make room for it.
Maybe that's thirty minutes before everyone wakes up.
Maybe it's an hour on Saturday.
Maybe it's writing during lunch.
You don't need someone else's schedule.
You need one that works for your life.
Then guard that time.
Put away the phone.
Close social media.
Make your coffee.
Pray.
Open the manuscript.
And work.
✍️ Don't Just Be Busy—Move the Book Forward
There are many things authors can do that feel productive.
Research fonts.
Look at covers.
Watch publishing videos.
Scroll through author groups.
Rearrange the desk.
Buy another notebook. 😊
But ask yourself:
“Did anything I did today actually move my book forward?”
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is simply write the next page.
🙏 Saturday Author Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us dreams, creativity, and purpose.
Help us not only talk about what we want to accomplish but faithfully work toward it.
Give us discipline.
Protect our time from unnecessary distractions.
Help us work with excellence while remembering that perfection isn't required.
Bless the work of our hands and teach us to be faithful with the opportunities You've given us.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.
✍️ Saturday Author Challenge
MOVE THE BOOK FORWARD
Give your project 30 focused minutes today.
Choose ONE:
✍️ Write 500 words.
📝 Edit two pages.
📖 Finish your research.
💡 Outline the next chapter.
🎨 Finalize one publishing decision.
📣 Create one meaningful marketing post.
When you're finished, ask:
“Is my book closer to completion than it was yesterday?”
If the answer is yes...
Celebrate that progress!
💜 SATURDAY AUTHORS HUB WORKROOM
Let's work together today.
Comment:
“Today I am working on __________.”
Then come back later and tell us what you accomplished.
Published authors, share your book links and tell us what you're working on next.
If you see someone struggling with something you've already learned, help them.
🌷 Saturday Encouragement
“Don't only dream about holding the finished book. Be faithful with the page that's sitting in front of you today.”
Dream.
Pray.
Then work.
🌿 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
You've Written the Words—Now Trust God With Where They Go
📖 Today's Scripture
"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."— Psalm 37:5 (KJV)
Good Sunday morning, authors. 💜📖🙏
Friday we talked about believing.
Saturday we talked about working.
And today?
We talk about letting go.
This may actually be one of the hardest parts.
We can write the book.
Edit it.
Publish it.
Market it.
Share the link.
Tell people about it.
But eventually we reach something we cannot control:
What happens after the book leaves our hands.
🌿 You Cannot Control Every Result
You cannot force someone to buy your book.
You cannot make somebody leave a review.
You cannot guarantee thousands of readers.
You cannot control algorithms.
You cannot make everyone like your writing.
And you cannot measure your worth as an author by numbers.
Do your part faithfully.
Then trust God with what you cannot control.
💜 One Reader Still Matters
We often dream big.
There's nothing wrong with that.
But don't become so focused on reaching thousands that you miss the blessing of reaching one.
One person encouraged.
One grieving heart comforted.
One child inspired.
One reader entertained during a difficult week.
One person reminded that God hasn't forgotten them.
One matters.
Jesus never treated individuals as insignificant.
Neither should we.
🌸 Don't Let Sales Numbers Steal Your Joy
Yes, publishing can be a business.
We should understand costs.
We should market wisely.
We should learn how to reach readers.
But numbers are terrible at measuring some of the most important things.
A sales report can't tell you:
Someone cried while reading Chapter Seven.
An algorithm can't tell you:
Someone prayed after reading your devotional.
A ranking can't tell you:
A family read your children's story together before bed.
A royalty report can't tell you:
Someone gave your book to a friend who desperately needed it.
Impact and income aren't always measured the same way.
Be wise about the business.
But don't lose the ministry of the words.
🙏 Sunday Author Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for every word You've helped us write.
Today we surrender the results to You.
Help us work faithfully without becoming consumed by numbers.
Protect us from comparison.
Keep us grateful for every reader.
Take our books wherever You desire.
Place them into the hands of people who need the stories, encouragement, knowledge, laughter, testimony, or hope they contain.
And whether our audience is one person or thousands, help us remain humble and faithful.
May our greatest desire always be to honor You with the gifts You've entrusted to us.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.
🌿 Sunday Author Challenge
PRAY OVER YOUR BOOK
No word-count goal today.
Take your manuscript, notebook, or published book into your hands.
Then pray:
“Lord, I've done what I can. I trust You with what I cannot control.”
Ask God to guide your next step.
Then rest.
💜 SUNDAY AUTHORS HUB FELLOWSHIP
Let's finish the weekend with gratitude.
Tell us ONE thing you're thankful for in your writing journey.
Maybe:
💜 You finally started.
✍️ You finished a chapter.
📖 Someone read your book.
⭐ You received an encouraging review.
🙏 God gave you direction.
📚 You published.
🌿 You met another writer who encouraged you.
Published authors may share their book links, but let's also tell each other why we're thankful.
And before leaving, pray for or encourage another writer.
🌷 Sunday Encouragement
“Write faithfully. Work diligently. Then trust God with the places your words will go that you may never see.”
You don't have to control everything.
You've planted the seed.
Let God handle the harvest.
💜 WEEKEND AUTHOR REMINDER
FRIDAY — BELIEVE
Don't allow fear to convince you that your story doesn't matter.
SATURDAY — WORK
Dreams become manuscripts when writers faithfully show up.
SUNDAY — TRUST
Do your part and give God what you cannot control.
Author, perhaps that's the whole journey:
**Believe enough to begin.
Work faithfully enough to continue.Trust God enough to release the results.**
Your story matters.
Your voice matters.
Your growth matters.
And the other authors around you matter too.
So let's keep learning.
Let's keep encouraging.
Let's keep supporting one another.
And most importantly...
LET'S KEEP GOD AT THE CENTER OF EVERY PAGE. 💜📖✍️
Have a beautiful and blessed weekend, Authors!
