Your Words Have Power—Use Them With Purpose

Good Wednesday morning, authors! 💜📚

Have you ever read a sentence that stayed with you long after you closed the book?

Maybe it made you laugh.

Maybe it made you cry.

Maybe it reminded you of someone you loved.

Maybe it taught you something.

Maybe it gave you hope during a difficult season.

Maybe it caused you to look at something differently.

That's the amazing thing about words.

Words travel from one heart to another.

As authors, we sometimes become so focused on writing the book that we forget the privilege—and responsibility—of being trusted with someone's attention.

A reader is giving us something valuable.

Their time.

And when someone opens our book, we have an opportunity to do something meaningful with it.

🌿 Before You Ask, “Will It Sell?” Ask, “Will It Serve?”

There is nothing wrong with wanting to sell books.

Authors invest time, money, creativity, and countless hours into their work.

We should learn about marketing.

We should price our books wisely.

We should tell people where they can purchase them.

But sales shouldn't be the only measure of success.

Sometimes we need to ask:

Will this encourage someone?

Will this teach something worthwhile?

Will this make someone smile?

Will this preserve something important?

Will this point someone toward hope?

And for those of us writing Christian material:

Will these words honor God?

That question matters more than any sales ranking ever will.

💜 Be Careful With the Words You Put Into the World

Once words are published, they can travel far beyond us.

That's why we should write prayerfully.

Especially when we're sharing:
