Don't Bury the Story God Gave You

Scripture

"Neglect not the gift that is in thee..."1 Timothy 4:14 (KJV)

Good Thursday morning, authors! 💜📖

There are unfinished books sitting in notebooks.

Stories tucked away in computer files.

Devotionals written on scraps of paper.

Book ideas stored in someone's phone.

Testimonies that have been carried quietly for years.

And dreams of becoming an author that have never made it beyond the words:

"Someday, I'm going to write a book."

Maybe one of those belongs to you.

If so, today's devotional is especially for you.

🌿 Someday Has to Become Today

There will probably never be a perfect time to write.

Life will always have responsibilities.

There will always be distractions.

You may never feel completely prepared.

And you certainly won't know everything about writing and publishing before you begin.

That's okay.

You don't have to know how to publish Chapter Twenty before you've written Chapter One.

You simply need to begin.

Sometimes we pray for God to show us our purpose while ignoring the very gift He's already placed in our hands.

If the story keeps returning to your heart, perhaps it's worth asking:

"Lord, what do You want me to do with this?"

💜 Your Experience May Become Someone Else's Encouragement

You may look at your life and think:

"Who would want to read my story?"

But you know what?

Someone who's walking through what you've survived might.

The person grieving may need the words of someone who understands loss.

The person rebuilding their life may need to hear from someone who has rebuilt theirs.

The struggling Christian may need to know that another believer has wrestled, prayed, cried, stumbled, gotten back up, and kept following Jesus.

And sometimes readers simply need a beautiful story that gives them hope.

God has a wonderful way of taking things we've lived through and using them to minister to people we've never met.

Your scars can become sentences.

Your lessons can become chapters.

Your testimony can become hope.

And your imagination can become a story that touches someone's heart.

✍️ You Don't Have to Know Everything About Publishing

I want our Authors Hub to especially encourage people who say:

"I want to write a book, but I don't know where to start."

That's okay!

Every published author was once someone who didn't know how to publish a book.

Writing can be learned.

Editing can be learned.

Formatting can be learned.

Cover design can be learned or entrusted to someone who knows how.

ISBNs can be explained.

Publishing platforms can be understood.

Marketing skills can grow.

You don't have to know everything—you need to be willing to learn the next thing.

Don't allow what you don't know today to convince you that you can't become what God is calling you to become tomorrow.

🌸 Don't Bury Your Gift Because You're Afraid

Fear has buried far too many dreams.

Fear of failure.

Fear of criticism.

Fear of rejection.

Fear of spending money.

Fear of making mistakes.

Fear that nobody will buy the book.

Fear that somebody will.

But Scripture reminds us:

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear..." — 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

There is wisdom in planning.

There is wisdom in learning.

There is wisdom in seeking counsel.

But eventually, faith requires movement.

Pray—and take the next step.

🙏 Thursday Author Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for every gift, story, testimony, idea, and dream You have placed within us.

Forgive us for the times fear, procrastination, comparison, or insecurity has caused us to neglect those gifts.

Give courage to the person who has dreamed of becoming an author but doesn't know where to begin.

Strengthen the writer who has stopped halfway through.

Give wisdom to the author preparing to publish.

Guide those who are learning new skills.

And help each of us use our words responsibly, faithfully, and lovingly.

May our writing encourage hearts, share truth, bring hope, and ultimately glorify You.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

✍️ Today's Author Challenge: Find the Story

Today I want you to do something simple.

Find that idea you've been putting off.

Open the old document.

Pull out the notebook.

Look through the notes on your phone.

Or sit down with a completely blank page.

Then write:

"The story I want to tell is..."

And keep writing for 15 minutes.

Don't edit.

Don't worry about publishing.

Don't worry about whether it's good enough.

Today isn't about finishing the book.

Today is about refusing to bury the idea.

💜 Thursday Authors Hub — Let's Help Each Other!

Today I especially want to hear from those who are new to writing and publishing.

What is the ONE thing you most want help understanding?

Is it:

📖 How to begin writing a book?

📝 Editing?

🎨 Book covers?

📚 ISBNs?

💻 Self-publishing?

©️ Copyright?

📣 Marketing?

💰 Pricing your book?

🛒 Getting your book onto selling platforms?

Ask your questions in the comments!

And experienced or published authors, please join the conversation. Share something you wish someone had told you when you first started.

Published authors are also welcome to share their book links so we can discover and support your work. 💜

Let's make this Authors Hub more than a place to advertise books.

Let's make it a place where future authors become authors.

Where questions are welcomed.

Where knowledge is shared.

Where accomplishments are celebrated.

And where we remind one another:

You don't have to walk the publishing journey alone.

🌷 Today's Encouragement

"Don't bury a God-given story because you don't yet know how to turn it into a book. Write what you know today, learn what you need tomorrow, and trust God through every chapter."

Someone reading this may have been saying for years:

"One day I'll write my book."

Maybe this is your day to stop saying one day.

Open the notebook.

Write the first sentence.

Your book doesn't need to be finished today.

It just needs somewhere to begin. 💜📖✍️
