✍️ Author Devotional – October 21, 2025 The Pen in the Potter’s Hand

Scripture: “But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” — Isaiah 64:8 (KJV)

As an author, it’s easy to feel the pressure to make every word perfect — to mold your story or message into something flawless. But when you write for the Lord, perfection isn’t the goal — surrender is.

You are the pen, and He is the Potter. The words you write are the clay, shaped by His Spirit to fit the purpose He designed them for. You may not always see how the pieces fit, but God does. What seems rough or unfinished to you might be exactly what someone else needs to see His grace more clearly.

The beauty of being a Christian writer is knowing that your words don’t have to be your own masterpiece — they are His. When you yield your pen to the Potter’s hands, He takes your offering and forms it into something eternal.

So, release the pressure today. Don’t strive for approval — write for impact. Don’t chase perfection — write for purpose. God can use even your unpolished drafts to touch hearts and change lives.

Reflection Prayer:

Lord, thank You for being the Potter of my heart and the Author of my story. Help me to yield every word, idea, and chapter to You. Shape my writing into something that glorifies You and encourages others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Challenge: Before you write today, say this aloud: “Lord, shape my words according to Your will.” Then, let your writing flow freely under His direction — trusting the Potter to make something beautiful.
