šŸŽ Christmas Craft Countdown – Day 16 (November 24)

Craft: ā€œThe Shepherd’s Star Lanternā€Ā šŸŒŸšŸ‘šŸ•Æļø

Theme:Ā A peaceful lantern reminding us of the shepherds who first heard the good news of Jesus’ birth.

ā¤ļø What You’ll Need:

  • 1 glass jarĀ (mason jar or recycled candle jar)

  • Gold star stickersĀ or cutouts

  • Shepherd silhouetteĀ (printed on paper or cut from black cardstock)

  • Mod PodgeĀ or clear glue

  • LED tea light

  • Jute twineĀ or gold ribbon

  • Optional:

    • Faux snow

    • Small wooden sheep embellishment

    • Gold glitter

✨ Directions:

1. Prepare the Silhouette

Print or cut a simple shepherd silhouette — a shepherd holding a staff or standing with a sheep.Cut neatly and size it to fit on one side of your jar.

2. Attach the Scene

Use Mod Podge to glue the shepherd silhouette to the inside or outside of the jar.Let dry until clear.

3. Add the Star of Bethlehem

Place one large gold star sticker above the shepherd.Add small scattered stars around it for sparkle.Optional: lightly brush Mod Podge and sprinkle gold glitter around the top.

4. Add Snow (Optional)

Pour a small layer of faux snow or Epsom salt into the bottom of the jar.

5. Add the Light

Place an LED tea light inside.The glow will illuminate the shepherd and stars beautifully.

6. Final Touches

Wrap jute twine or gold ribbon around the rim.Tie a bow and attach a little wooden sheep or charm if you have one.

Luke 2:8–9 (KJV)ā€œAnd there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field… And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them.ā€

This lantern reminds us that the very firstĀ people God chose to tell of Jesus’ birth were ordinary shepherds — because His love reaches every heart, no matter how humble.
