Updated: Dec 3, 2025

Craft: ā€œThe Manger Heart Ornamentā€Ā ā¤ļøāœØšŸŖµ

Theme:Ā A simple, rustic reminder that Jesus was born in love, humility, and purpose.

ā¤ļø What You’ll Need:

  • Small wooden heartĀ (craft heart, wood slice heart, or cardboard heart)

  • Hay, raffia, or shredded paper (for ā€œstrawā€)

  • Tiny manger figurineĀ orĀ mini wooden pieces to form a stable shape

  • TwineĀ or jute string

  • Hot glue gun

  • Optional:

    • Gold star stickers

    • Mini baby Jesus figurine

    • White paint or stain

    • Glitter (gold or iridescent)

✨ Directions:

1. Prepare the Heart Base

  • Use a plain wooden heart, or paint the front lightly with white or cream paint.

  • For a rustic look, leave some natural wood showing.

2. Add the ā€œStrawā€

  • Glue a small patch of hay, raffia, or shredded paper in the center of the heart.

  • This represents the manger bedding.

3. Create the Manger Scene

Choose one of these options:

  • Glue a tiny manger figurine in the center

  • Make a simple manger shape using two tiny craft sticks crossed and a small base

  • Or glue a tiny wooden ā€œBaby Jesusā€ bead wrapped in cloth

4. Add the Star

  • Place a gold star above the manger to represent the Star of Bethlehem.

5. Add the Hanger

  • Glue or tie twine to the top of the heart so you can hang it on your tree or wreath.

6. Finishing Touches

Optional touches to make it beautiful:

  • Lightly brush gold glitter around the edges

  • Add ā€œLove Came Downā€ or ā€œJesusā€ using a fine marker

  • Add greenery or berries to the top edge

āœļø Faith Reflection:

John 1:14 (KJV)Ā ā€“ā€œAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among usā€¦ā€

This ornament beautifully reminds us that love came down from Heaven to meet us — in the simplest place, at the perfect time.
