šæ Daily Devotional #20: āGod Is Near in the Missingā
Scripture:
āThe Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.āā Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
There is a particular ache that comes with missing someone you love.It isnāt always loud.Sometimes itās quietāsettling into your heart during ordinary moments, reminding you of conversations, laughter, or shared routines that once filled your days.
That missing can feel lonely.
But Scripture reminds us of a powerful truth: God draws especially close to the brokenhearted. Not later. Not after the pain fades. But right in the middle of it.
When your heart aches with absence, God is near. When memories surface unexpectedly, God is near. When words fail and tears speak instead, God is still near.
He does not shy away from your grief. He steps into it with compassion and love. The Lord saves, restores, and gently carries those whose hearts feel tender and worn.
Missing someone does not mean you are weakāit means you loved deeply. And God honors that love by meeting you with His presence, holding you steady when emotions rise, and giving peace when your heart feels unsettled.
Today, let yourself acknowledge the missing without fear. You are not alone in it. God is closer than your breath, nearer than the ache itself, and faithful to walk with you through every moment.
š Prayer:
Lord,Thank You for being near when my heart feels broken and the missing feels heavy. Draw close to me today. Comfort me in the quiet moments, steady my emotions, and remind me that You see every tear and understand every ache. Help me rest in Your nearness. In Jesusā Name, Amen.
