🌄 Daily Devotional – When God Changes Our Name

 Wrestling with God Leads to Transformation

Scripture: “And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”— Genesis 32:28 (KJV)

Reflection: There are moments in our walk with God when everything shifts—not because our circumstances change, but because we do. Jacob entered the night fearful, burdened by his past, and uncertain about his future. He left that encounter changed—marked by God and given a new name.

Sometimes transformation comes through struggle. Sometimes growth comes through wrestling. Sometimes blessing comes only after surrender.

Jacob didn’t walk away untouched. He limped—but he was no longer the same man. His encounter with God changed his identity. What once defined him no longer held power over him. God had rewritten his story.

As we move deeper into 2026, God may invite us into moments that stretch us—moments that require honesty, humility, and persistence in prayer. These are not setbacks. These are sacred encounters where God reshapes our hearts and deepens our faith.

When we cling to God instead of running from Him, transformation follows. God doesn’t just meet us—He changes us.

Meditation: Ask yourself quietly: What am I wrestling with that I need to surrender to God?Hold onto Him and trust the work He is doing in you.

Prayer: Father, thank You for meeting me in moments of struggle and shaping me through them. Help me cling to You when things feel difficult and trust that You are working a transformation in my life. Change what needs to be changed in me so that I may walk forward in faith, obedience, and freedom. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 💜
