☕ Food for Thought: Don't Stop Praying
Good morning, family and friends. ❤️
As I was sitting here this morning, I started thinking about Jacob wrestling through the night for his blessing.
Jacob said:
"I will not let thee go, except thou bless me." — Genesis 32:26 KJV
Then my mind went to the widow Jesus told us about in Luke 18.
She kept going before the unjust judge asking him to hear her case. He didn't want to help her, but she kept coming.
She didn't ask once and quit.
She persisted.
And Jesus began that parable with these powerful words:
"...that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;" — Luke 18:1 KJV
In other words:
DON'T GIVE UP.
How many times have we prayed about something for days, months, or even years and finally thought:
"God, I just don't see anything changing."
Sometimes things feel unsettled.
Sometimes we're frustrated.
Sometimes the valley seems so long that we begin wondering whether we'll ever reach the other side.
And sometimes we stop praying because we mistake God's silence for God's absence.
But what if you're closer to the breakthrough than you realize?
What if you could see what God is arranging that you cannot see?
What if you could see how close victory is?
Would you pray one more prayer?
Would you hold on one more day?
Would you trust Him through one more night?
Jacob wrestled through the night, but morning came.
That widow kept asking, and her request was eventually heard.
Don't give up on that child you've been praying for.
Don't give up on your family.
Don't give up on the calling God placed upon your heart.
Don't give up because a door hasn't opened yet.
Don't give up because the answer hasn't arrived according to your timetable.
While there is breath, there is hope. KEEP PRAYING.
And when the frustration becomes too heavy, give it to God.
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." — 1 Peter 5:7 KJV
I love that Scripture doesn't say God only cares about the enormous problems.
He cares for YOU.
Your worries matter to Him.
Your tears matter to Him.
Your family matters to Him.
Your needs matter to Him.
Your unanswered questions matter to Him.
David also testified:
"I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." — Psalm 37:25 KJV
God has not forgotten you.
The valley may feel long, but valleys have an ending.
The night may seem dark, but morning is coming.
The prayer may feel unanswered, but God is still listening.
And this morning, something really settled into my spirit:
Today's TEST may become tomorrow's TESTIMONY.
One day you may look back at the very thing you're crying about today and say:
"Look what the Lord has done!"
So don't stop praying five minutes before your answer.
Don't walk away because you're tired.
Rest if you need to.
Cry if you need to.
Ask others to pray with you if you need strength.
But keep trusting Jesus.
You may not understand what He's doing today, but God sees the entire picture.
❤️ Hold on. Pray again. Trust again. Believe again.
Your valley isn't your final destination.
And your story isn't finished yet.
The test you're walking through today may be the testimony someone desperately needs to hear tomorrow.
Lord, help us not to become weary while we're waiting. Give us faith to keep praying when we cannot see the answer. Help us surrender our frustration and worries to You and trust that You hear every prayer. Strengthen those walking through long valleys today. Remind them that they have not been forgotten and that You are still working. In Jesus' name, Amen.
DON'T GIVE UP ON THE PRAYER. 🙏❤️
