☕ Food for Thought: Let Go and Let God
Good morning, family and friends. ❤️
As I sit here with my morning coffee and Bible, I've been thinking about how much time we can spend thinking, worrying, replaying conversations, and stressing over situations we simply cannot change.
We try to figure it out.
We wonder what somebody else is thinking.
We replay what happened.
We imagine what might happen tomorrow.
And before we know it, we've allowed something we cannot control to steal today's peace.
This morning I'm reminding myself:
LET GO AND LET GOD.
The Bible says:
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God..." — Romans 8:28 KJV
That doesn't mean everything that happens to us is good.
It means God can work through it for our good.
Sometimes God is protecting us and we don't even realize it.
That closed door we cried about?
Maybe God knew what was behind it.
That relationship that changed?
God knew what we couldn't see.
That plan that didn't work?
Maybe God was redirecting our steps.
I've lived long enough to look back at situations that once broke my heart and say:
"Thank You, Lord. I didn't understand it then, but You were protecting me."
That's why I don't want my feelings directing my actions.
Feelings are real, but feelings can change.
When I'm hurt, I may feel like responding immediately.
When I'm angry, I may feel like saying something.
When I'm afraid, I may feel like taking control.
But before I react, I need to ask:
"What does God's Word say?"
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." — Proverbs 3:5 KJV
Sometimes trusting God means STOP TRYING TO FIX IT.
We cannot change another person's heart.
We cannot control what somebody says.
We cannot make someone understand.
We cannot force another person to make the right decision.
And we can wear ourselves completely out trying.
There comes a time when we have to say:
"God, please take care of this situation. I can't fix it, so I'm putting it in Your hands."
And then—this is the hard part—
LEAVE IT THERE.
Don't give it to God at 7:00 and pick it back up at 7:15. 😂
I'm preaching to myself this morning too!
Pray about it.
Give it to God.
Stand on His Word.
And trust Him to handle what you cannot.
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." — 1 Peter 5:7 KJV
Maybe the greatest act of faith you can make today isn't doing something.
Maybe it's finally saying:
"Lord, I trust You enough to stop interfering."
Love God with all your heart.
Pray for the people you cannot change.
Ask for wisdom concerning the things you can change.
And surrender the rest.
My prayer today is:
Lord, help me stop carrying situations that belong in Your hands. Keep my feelings from controlling my actions. Give me wisdom to know when to speak, when to act, when to wait, and when to simply pray. Protect me from things I cannot see and help me trust You when I don't understand what You're doing. I give You the people I cannot change, the situations I cannot fix, and the answers I do not have. Help me leave them with You and stand firmly upon Your Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today I'm choosing:
❤️ PRAY instead of panic.❤️ TRUST instead of control.❤️ SCRIPTURE instead of feelings.❤️ PEACE instead of worry.❤️ GOD'S HANDS instead of mine.
You don't have to fix everything. Sometimes you simply need to pray, let go, and let God be God.
