☕ Food for Thought: THINK AGAIN! ❤️
☕ Food for Thought: THINK AGAIN! ❤️
Good morning, family and friends!
As I sit here drinking my morning coffee and studying God's Word, something really spoke to my heart.
SOMETIMES WE NEED TO STOP AND THINK ABOUT WHAT WE'RE THINKING!
Y'all, have you ever caught yourself thinking the worst about a situation before you even knew all the facts?
Or maybe someone said something that hurt your feelings, and you spent the rest of the day replaying that conversation in your mind.
Maybe you've been worrying about tomorrow, dwelling on yesterday, or convincing yourself that you're not good enough.
I've been guilty of it myself!
And here's something I've learned: It doesn't matter how old we are, how much education we have, or how much life experience we've gained. We ALL still have something to learn.
The Bible says:
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." — Philippians 4:8 KJV
Oh, how I love that Scripture!
God is reminding us to be careful about what we allow to occupy our minds.
Before we believe something we've heard about another person, maybe we need to ask:
Is it TRUE?
Before we repeat something, ask:
Is it KIND?
Before we allow worry, anger, or bitterness to take over our thoughts, ask:
DOES THIS LINE UP WITH GOD'S WORD?
And sometimes we need to ask ourselves one more question:
SARAH, IS THIS THOUGHT BRINGING YOU CLOSER TO JESUS OR STEALING THE PEACE HE HAS GIVEN YOU?
I'm preaching to myself this morning too! ❤️
We can't always control what happens around us, what people say, or what tomorrow brings.
But with God's help, we can learn to recognize thoughts that aren't helping us and bring them back to His truth.
Remember what the Bible tells us about taking every thought captive in 2 Corinthians 10:5?
That means we don't have to entertain every thought that enters our minds.
Sometimes we need to stop, pray, open our Bible, and simply...
THINK AGAIN!
Instead of dwelling on everything that's wrong, remember how faithful God has been.
Instead of replaying hurtful words, remember what God says about you.
Instead of assuming the worst about someone, choose to show grace.
And instead of allowing fear to control tomorrow, trust the One who already knows what tomorrow holds.
I want my thoughts, my words, and my actions to reflect Jesus.
And y'all, that's something I'm still working on every single day!
🙏 Lord, help me guard my thoughts. When I begin to worry, judge, assume the worst, or dwell on things I cannot change, remind me to stop and seek Your truth. Help me think about things that are honest, pure, lovely, and pleasing to You. Give me wisdom to know when to speak, when to remain silent, and when I simply need to THINK AGAIN. In Jesus' name, Amen.
❤️ Not every thought deserves a place in your heart, and not every thought needs to become a word spoken from your mouth.
BEFORE YOU BELIEVE IT, REPEAT IT, OR REACT TO IT—THINK AGAIN!
Fill your mind with God's Word, and let His truth guide your heart.
