💜 FOOD FOR THOUGHT 💜

What If Today Is the Day You Simply Trust God?

Good morning, friends. ☀️

I woke up this morning thinking about how much time we spend trying to figure everything out.

We want to know why.

Why did this happen?

Why didn't that door open?

Why did God allow this season?

Why hasn't that prayer been answered yet?

We want to know when.

When will things change?

When will the answer come?

When will the breakthrough happen?

When will I understand what God is doing?

And then we want to know how.

How am I going to get through this?

How will everything work out?

How will God make a way?

But maybe this Sunday morning God isn't asking us to understand the why, when, or how.

Maybe He's simply asking:

“Will you trust Me?”

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”— Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)

Notice that Scripture doesn't say:

Trust God when you understand.

It says:

Lean NOT unto thine own understanding.

That's faith.

🌿 Some Things Only Make Sense Looking Back

I can look back over my life and see things differently now than I did while I was walking through them.

There were doors I wanted God to open that stayed closed.

There were seasons I wanted Him to hurry that seemed to last forever.

There were prayers that weren't answered the way I expected.

There were changes I didn't understand.

There were tears.

There were disappointments.

There were moments when all I could do was pray:

“Lord, I don't understand, but I'm going to trust You.”

And looking back, I can see His hand.

Not because every difficult thing suddenly became good.

But because God remained good through every difficult thing.

That's an important difference.

💜 GOD IS STILL GOOD

God is good when the prayer is answered.

And God is still good while you're waiting.

God is good when the door opens.

And God is still good when He closes one.

God is good on the mountaintop.

And God is still good in the valley.

God is good when you're celebrating.

And God is still good when tears are running down your face.

Our circumstances don't determine God's character.

“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”— Psalm 100:5 (KJV)

🌻 Maybe You Need Permission to Rest Today

Some of us are tired because we're carrying things God never asked us to carry.

We're trying to control tomorrow.

We're trying to fix everybody.

We're replaying conversations.

We're worrying about situations we cannot change.

We're imagining problems that haven't even happened.

We're asking:

“What if?”

What if something goes wrong?

What if I fail?

What if the money isn't there?

What if things don't work out?

What if...

What if...

What if...

Friend, eventually we have to replace “What if?” with:

“Even if.”

Even if the answer takes longer than I want...

I will trust God.

Even if the door doesn't open...

I will trust God.

Even if someone doesn't understand me...

I will trust God.

Even if my plans change...

I will trust God.

Even if I don't know what tomorrow holds...

I know Who holds tomorrow.

🌿 YOU DON’T HAVE TO CARRY TOMORROW TODAY

Jesus said:

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”— Matthew 6:34 (KJV)

God has given you enough grace for today.

Today's strength.

Today's bread.

Today's mercy.

Today's opportunity.

Today's assignment.

And tomorrow?

God will already be there when you arrive.

So maybe today you need to stop trying to live Monday while it's still Sunday.

💜 Worship today.

💜 Rest today.

💜 Love your family today.

💜 Read your Bible today.

💜 Pray today.

💜 Sit on the porch and thank God today.

💜 Call someone you love today.

💜 Go to church today if you're able.

💜 Enjoy the blessings sitting right in front of you today.

Tomorrow will come soon enough.

🙏 BEFORE YOU ASK GOD FOR SOMETHING NEW...

Thank Him for something you already have.

Thank Him for waking you up.

Thank Him for another Sunday.

Thank Him for the roof over your head.

Thank Him for the people you love.

Thank Him for the prayers He has already answered.

Thank Him for the things He protected you from that you may never know about.

Thank Him for the doors He closed.

Thank Him for the doors He opened.

Thank Him for the times He carried you when you didn't have enough strength to carry yourself.

And most importantly:

Thank Him for Jesus.

Sometimes gratitude changes our perspective before God ever changes our circumstances.

🌸 A LITTLE SUNDAY HEART CHECK

Ask yourself:

What am I carrying today that I need to give back to God?

Is it fear?

Worry?

A child?

A grandchild?

Finances?

Your health?

A relationship?

Your future?

Your business?

Your career?

A decision?

A prayer that hasn't been answered?

Whatever it is...

Open your hands.

You cannot surrender something while holding onto it with both fists.

Pray:

“Lord, I have done everything I know to do. Now I trust You with what I cannot do.”

And leave it there.

🙏 SUNDAY PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for this beautiful Sunday morning.

Thank You for another day of life.

Thank You for mercy that was waiting for us when we opened our eyes.

Lord, today we surrender the things we've been trying to control.

The unanswered questions.

The uncertain future.

The family situations.

The financial concerns.

The health concerns.

The decisions.

The disappointments.

The dreams.

The people we love.

We place them into Your hands.

Help us stop trying to understand everything and begin trusting You more deeply.

For the person grieving today, bring comfort.

For the person crying where nobody can see, hold them close.

For the person who is sick, bring healing according to Your will.

For the family struggling, bring peace.

For the person who doesn't know how the bills will be paid, provide.

For the one waiting on an answer, give patience.

For the one standing at a crossroads, give wisdom.

For the one who feels like giving up, give strength for one more step.

Protect our children and grandchildren.

Bless our homes.

Strengthen our churches.

Guide our leaders.

And Lord, if there's someone reading this who doesn't know Jesus, let today be the day they discover the greatest love they will ever know.

Help us walk into this new week without fear.

We may not know what tomorrow holds...

But we know You are already there.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

💜 TODAY’S FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Maybe peace doesn't come when you finally have all the answers.

Maybe peace comes when you realize:

You don't need all the answers because you know the One who does.

So today...

Put down the worry.

Release tomorrow.

Stop replaying yesterday.

Take God's hand.

And enjoy today.

Because this Sunday is a gift you'll never receive again.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”— Psalm 118:24 (KJV)
