🌿 God Defines You — Not the Lies of This World 🌿
Happy Sunday morning, friends. ☕I’m sitting here drinking my second cup of coffee, thinking about some things I have learned in my life, and I feel led to share this with you.
I am a simple country girl from Logan, Ohio.
From the time I started school until practically the day I graduated, I was bullied relentlessly and brutally. Sadly, many times the teachers did nothing to stop it.
I had to wear glasses at an early age — that got me bullied.I was painfully shy — that got me bullied.I had a speech delay — that got me bullied.
When I was learning to read, I struggled terribly. One teacher, who I’ll call Mrs. K, would send me into the hallway by myself to “figure it out” instead of helping me.
But God also placed someone special in my life — an amazing teacher named Mrs. Murphy. She helped me catch up and discovered I had dyslexia. That one teacher made all the difference.
I also grew up in an abusive home — both physically and mentally. I constantly heard that I was worthless, ugly, and would never amount to anything.
My precious Christian momma died when I was only eight years old. She had been the buffer, protecting her children the best she could from the abuse at home.
I’m not telling you this for pity.
I’m telling you this because you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God above — and God does not make junk.
Every single one of us is uniquely created by Him.
The world may try to define you by your struggles, your past, your mistakes, or what others say about you. But the truth is this:
God defines you — not man.
I am nothing without God first and foremost in my life. Everything I have accomplished has only been possible because of Him.
Today I have a career that I truly love. I am a project manager for a Fortune 500 company, something I never could have imagined when I was that shy little girl being told I would never amount to anything.
I also have an amazing husband.I am a mother and a MawMaw, which is one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Have we had struggles? Absolutely.
But God has carried us through it all.
Even through the hardest loss of my life — the tragic murder of my son. There are no words for that kind of pain.
Over the years I have also lost so many people I love. I have lost both of my parents, my grandparents, all of my siblings, two best friends, several precious aunts and uncles, cousins, three nephews, and a brother-in-law who was like the baby brother I never had.
I could go on and on.
Sometimes people have said to me, “You don’t understand loss.”
I’m here to tell you — I do understand loss.
But I also understand something else.
God walks with us through it.
We live in a broken world, but God promises us something powerful:
📖 Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
Today I am 55 years old.
By the grace of God I am:• An author• Working toward my MBA• A licensed minister• A licensed counselor• A life coach• A shop owner• A project manager for a Fortune 500 company
And God has laid a vision on my heart that when the time is right, I will share.
I am not bragging.
I am telling you this so you will understand something very important:
Do not listen to the lies.
The enemy, the world, and sometimes even people around us will try to define who we are.
But if you let Him, God will define you.
And when God writes your story, the ending is far greater than anything the world ever said about you.
📖 Psalm 139:14 (KJV)"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
So today I want you to remember:
✨ You are not worthless.✨ You are not a mistake.✨ You are not what others said about you.
You are a child of God.
And God does not make junk.
