“Grace for the First Steps”
Scripture:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”— Psalm 37:23 (KJV)
January 2nd often feels quieter than New Year’s Day.The excitement fades, the noise settles, and reality gently returns. For those who grieve, this day can feel especially tender—a reminder that life is moving forward even while your heart still holds yesterday.
But God is not asking you to leap into this new year.He is only asking you to take the next step—and He promises to walk it with you.
Grief does not disappear when the calendar changes. Love does not reset. And healing does not rush to meet a date. Instead, God offers grace for the first steps—the small, careful movements forward that honor both your pain and your hope.
You don’t need a full plan for 2026.You don’t need clarity for the whole journey. You only need enough strength for today.
And God delights in ordering each step, even the hesitant ones. He understands the weight you carry. He sees the memories you bring with you. And He lovingly walks beside you, steadying your heart as you move forward one day at a time.
January 2nd is not about doing more. It’s about trusting God with the next breath, the next moment, the next step.
And that is enough.
💛 Prayer:
Lord,As I take my first steps into this new year, give me grace for today. Order my steps gently and help me trust You with each moment. Walk beside me as I carry love, memories, and hope forward. Thank You for being faithful in every step of my journey. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
