December 18th: Coming to Jesus With a Childlike Heart📖 Luke Chapter 18
🕊️ Key Scripture (KJV):“Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.”— Luke 18:17
📚 Devotional Thought:
Luke 18 gently draws our hearts back to something simple, pure, and deeply meaningful: childlike faith.
In this chapter, Jesus teaches through parables about persistence in prayer, humility before God, and complete dependence on Him. But one moment stands out so clearly—when Jesus welcomes the children.
The disciples tried to push them away, thinking Jesus was too important or too busy. But Jesus stopped everything and said, “Suffer little children to come unto me.”
Christmas is the season where childlike wonder fills the air.Children believe easily. They trust freely. They hope boldly.
And Jesus tells us this is exactly how we are to come to Him.
Not with pride. Not with self-sufficiency.Not with complicated explanations.
But with open hearts, trusting spirits, and humble faith.
Luke 18 also reminds us that humility matters. The Pharisee prayed proudly, listing his good deeds, while the tax collector simply cried out for mercy. Jesus made it clear—God responds to humble hearts.
As Christmas approaches, this chapter invites us to lay down our pride, our striving, and our need to “have it all together,” and simply come to Jesus as we are.
Christmas is not about impressing God.It’s about trusting Him.
When we come with childlike faith, Jesus welcomes us, loves us, and meets us right where we are.
🎄 Christmas Reflection: The Wonder of Christmas Through a Child’s Eyes
So many Christmas traditions—nativity plays, simple songs, handmade ornaments—are centered around children. This is no accident. Christmas reminds us that faith doesn’t have to be complicated to be real.
Luke 18 teaches us that the heart Jesus welcomes most is one that is humble, trusting, and open—just like a child.
🙏 Prayer Prompt:
Lord, help me come to You with a childlike heart.Remove pride, fear, and self-reliance from my spirit.Teach me to trust You fully, depend on You daily, and believe You completely—especially in this Christmas season.
✍️ Reflection Questions:
• In what areas of my life do I need to trust God more simply and fully?• Have I been trying to “earn” God’s approval instead of resting in His grace?• What does childlike faith look like for me today?
